Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

what a great day this turned into, eh ?
If we can just hold off with any more rain until at least late tomorrow, I should be able to get the rest of my garden planted,,

I got my day in,, up at 4am, gone to breakfast and nome by 8am,,

went and fixed Irene's lawn mower,, decided to try it out , it worked so I just kept on going,,
spent 4 hours total at her house,, only gashed my hand once.. a nice deep one inch cut with a nice bruise to surround it..

I think I am going to take a power nap, and then maybe get my mower DECK back on..

JimP picked up hes 3 chicks and dropped off 18 more guinea eggs..

Someone was talking about wanting Guineas in middle or Southern WI. There is a post on Facebook on the Wisconsin Chicken Buying, Selling and Trading page for eggs....

Cockatiel looks really cute Jim - Hope you sell them away!

Need to get these chickens out of my garage to set up for the enormous rummage sale of moms stuff. Hoping my friend drops off the Kennel so I can get them situated. Hoping the males dont get too aggressive. Figure 14 weeks for dual purpose birds should be close to full size? I will switch them to a meat feed when they are moved.

Back to the drawing board with mom stuff... she is back in hospital and the "perfect" senior living apartment we were going to sign the papers for this weekend just went down the drain as we look for assisted living with a shuttle to get her to dialysis treatment. sigh...she is so down too...dont know how to boost her up. Getting old stuff sucks.

I hope all goes well with your mom and the sale of your mom's stuff!

I can finally log onto here!
I have been having so many BYC issues :( all is well here. Kristi, thanks for the guinaes post. We are going to check I on a lead Saturday morning.
Our first call docks of the year hatched yesterday. Silkies are good for something!
My Pudgy kitty got hit in the road. He is one of the kittens from Zeek. I have yet another barn cat that cost me thousands! He sure is happy to be home. And I really missed hom!
kristi, I am sorry to hear your mom is not as well agains.
I miss sending you guys pics. I want to show off some of my BLRW! They are coming along so nicely.

I got me some new chicken boots - Sloggers! http://www.sloggers.com/

With all the rain over the past few days they've gotten a good workout. They are sooo comfy that I almost forgot to take them off. Well made and made in the USA! I don't usually get too excited about boots or shoes but these are great!

(They also have them in yellow and they have the high tops, too))

Hi All!!! Haven't posted is a long while, but I got another question for anyone who cares to give input. So I have 4 chicks, all from eggs that were laid a few days before my favorite girl got snatched up by a fox. I was hoping to get at least one hen out of the 4. My question is that they all have the start of what seems like spurs on their legs. Now is that a sure sign that I have all roos or can I keep hope for a hen in the future?

Here is a pic from my phone, sorry I wish it was more clear but I think you will get the point of what I'm asking. Thanks all ~ Isaac

Isaac all of my chicks have that, even the ones I'm SURE are pullets. AFAIK they will develop months down the road on roos.

Fuxti, I have a lot of adult hens that have spurs. At least 5 or 6, and only 2 are related. It can happen.

No need to worry just yet.

You'll know for sure when they either crow or lay an egg.
