Thanks for sharing it!

my fertilizer spreaders work overtime so I need to mow once in awhile.. when I had 25 geese running around here, then I only had to mow the tall weeds they wouldn't eat.. but it still took as many passes with the mower,, but I could go at a very high speed ..

My thought with rinsing the Kraut is that maybe then it would taste more like cooked cabbage..?
somebody try it and let me know..

All both of the sump pumps are up and running again,, this new one will kick on more often since the float has a shorter travel distance.. I don't care,, as long as it pumps..
I raised it from the bottom of the pit with a cement block.. now it shouldn't pick up any sand like the other one must have done.

Hey Jim, I think it was you, back when I was first on BYC and was asking about my chickens.....you said Production Birds only live about 2 years because they put so much energy into laying they just plumb wear out. Lost another one of my originals today, Fuzzybutt. She was not too spry yesterday, and we went out today and found her facing a corner of the layer box. On the bright side, my RIR is doing his part to increase the herd tho.....I know nothing about what I am suppose to do in order to get babies, I do not seem to have any birds that are intent on just sitting around. Guess I'll have to internet it.

I got DRENCHED this morning opening up the store and stand, and tending to the critters. The cover blew off the bunnies so all their food was goo. The hubs can't make the roof fast enough for me!

There's a nice, big pot of salsa on the stove right now and the kitchen smells yummy again. I LOVE this time of year!

Hi All!

Yep Irish.... that's why he go so much. Guess they went ahead and bagged it all up. 110 quarts in the freezer.

Night All.

So everyone hoping you can help me. I think I let the girls out too soon this morning we haven't gotten a single egg in the nest box today yesterday we got 4. Well today it worked out because we followed one of the girls to a nest hidden in the shed behind a pile of wood. Well in the nest were 8 eggs but we have no idea who layed them or when they were layed. Are they safe to eat? This puts our egg number to 18 but I don't want to waste the 8 or have to give them to the chickens. I would appreciate it if anyone has any ideas. I candled them as it has been quite hot here into the 90s a day or two ago but saw no development. None of our chickens are broody. Please help any ideas would be great.

Perfect weather day here today....Jim, you woulda been relaxing all day here with 2 riders going all afternoon...84" of grass being cut at one time.....wo wo wo ...only have half of it raked up though.....it's all going on the garden to be tilled in...ain't no good dryin weather anymore.

I'm always a fresh collector here cd....I'd scramble them up for the flock to eat...they won't know they are eggs and will love you for it....if they know what treats are?

Tonight it was grilled sweat corn with brats...the ho-made relish on the brats was delish.

If your chickens were not laying that long, the eggs can't be too old..

that heat shouldn't have hurt them,, they were cooler on the ground than the air temp..

You can float test them,, just put them into a pan of clean water and watch them,, newer eggs will sink in the water.. real old eggs will float very high..

crack them into a plate before dropping them into the frying pan.. if they seem extremely runny, or if they have a bad odor, give them to your dog or scramble them for the chickens..
