Sara I'm in antigo so I assume our weather has been relatively close. Ever since that last hot streak a couple weeks ago my production has slowed dramatically. And molting season is upon us as well. I'll get back to you on the turkens tomorrow. How old were you looking for?

Antigo is only an hour from me! How cool.

My flock of 7 is youngest 3 months old, oldest 12 months old. So I would prefer around that age range of possible. I once tried to add 2 six year olds to the flock and it was a disaster! One of the young ones was almost pecked to death, so I'm not going to make that mistake again. Yikes!

Yeah, that's the trouble with buying them at this time of year. But if they are like mine, they will last for years. The one thing I do not like about the design is the cord goes through the bracket holding it to the cage so when you want to dump or remove it to wash out, the bracket & cord have to come out of the cage. Not fun fumbling around with in the winter. I suggest bringing a damp sponge/rag/paper towel along for cleaning purposes when you head out to refill it.

Sara, the brawling due to the pecking order in a flock is unavoidable no matter what age the birds are. When adding new birds, you need to quarantine first for 30 days, then allow a period where the new & old birds can see each other but not intermingle. That way, as they get used to seeing one another, the pecking order establishment may be less, oh, traumatic. But regardless, there will be brawls no matter what age the birds are. It is up to you to moderate them so things don't get too bloody. A good quick shot with the hose does wonders.

And this is just how I deal with introducing new birds. There are many ways that it can be done, but as I said, there is no way to keep newly introduced birds from fighting with your established flock. HTH

Thanks, but I did quarantine, build a mini run within the main run, so they could all see each other first. I guess it is just my personal preference now to have my flock 12 months and younger.

Pleasant Evening to all....Oh CC...you know I'm still behind you on the receiving end of advice, as well as a road slush kinda trade....

Eight Buckeye young Cocks went to the pond hill facility today for freezer camp. First time ever that I didn't do my own at home....I'll let everyone know if I'm satisfied with the results. I'm awful picky. They are busy, and look like they are in it for the long haul.

Just looked at it and it looks beautiful too bad about the carpet runner they put up the middle of the stairs but I'm absolutely in love with the built-ins I hope you plan to keep them especially the china cabinet but if you decide to get rid of it pm me its gorgeous and I would hate to see it be destroyed. I hope you get it its a beautiful home even with needing work.

Spent yesterday tearing almost all the tin off of this barn and even got some of the roof boards removed. These will be used for siding on the house first, then if more which I know there will be I'll do the inside walls. I should have enough tin to do the extension on the octagon and the 12x24 that is attaching to the house addition. I also found 3 solid wood doors that must of came out of the old house that was there in the lean-to, a few main beams in the barn are detached and in perfect condition so will use those in the living room. I was also sparked by the idea of using a drink cup for a washing station in the mud room for when they are all muddy coming in(and even though I will prohibit this, I know they will still do it). My hands are killing me, I got 2 nice cuts on one finger and tons of slivers, they are swelled up pretty bad this morning making it hard to type.



I forgot to take a pic before I started this project but all of the roof had corrugated steel on it. I'm so excited as it has nice age to it but still solid.

That is the part I like the most in the inside of the house. All the woodwork. I would not tear anything out. I will probably work on stripping doorways eventually.

As far as all of the space..I don't know. I am considering renters. I can rent out the store part, but I would have to install a bathroom. I am installing another bathroom upstairs asap if I do get this place, so it might make sense to put one in the store a the same time.
