Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Feels like winter has finally arrived. Not l9oking forward to things freezing in the barn. So far chores have remained easy. I am loving the mild weather. Keeps the birds laying well. Although the mud was getting old.
I am going to try to move the bators to the root cellar to cut down on the dust. Jim, how cool did you say your basement was? I think they will get up to temp. I will put a kds swim pool in there for a brooder I think. There aren't any vents in that room. So it will keep the rest of the house mildly dust free. I hope ;)
I am also going to front the cash and get some of the EcoGlow heater. They are much safer than heat lamps. I will ask hubby to put the light 8n there on a timer. There is a window. But I think that would need to be suplimented.
Finally got rid of the old washer and dryer. So we have a little room in the basement again!

right now it is 70 F in my computer room in the basement.
most basements will hold about 50 F to 60 F ..
I do not have any heaters going in the basement.. but my basement walls are insulated and paneled ..

when my sportsmans are running, it is about 80 F in this room.

I can sit comfortably right now with no shoes on and just a Tee shirt .. (and jeans).. just in case Heather happens to read this.

we ran into a snag with the plumbing yesterday,, have to decide if I want to drill 3 one inch holes through 6 inches of wood beam.. I am mostly afraid of hitting nails.. don't want to wreck an expensive drill bit ..

I do have a plan, however, won't disclose it until I know it will work .

chickens are 5 for 6 yesterday,, we let them out after noon. seems to help to have them lay inside the coop.. all but one have learned to use the nests..

Evening to all...yep, Zeke was a special guy....his phone number is still hanging on the wall by the land line ...only the good die young.

The tree is finished finally....looks pretty...all red lights, with silver and red balls and a lot of silver and red bead garland.

Pullets are starting to lay without any added light...I like that.

Peace...bigz

Hi,
not so busy on chz hds today..

so here are some pictures of some of the rat's nest we are up against..
All the copper you see is going to be removed..

this shows the beam that we will have to drill through.
with my new layout plans I cut it from 3 holes to 2.
the water pump is to the right of the beam, all the fixtures are to the left..

this one shows the master plumber's repair to the toilet with the white quick connect fittings. these are the same type of fittings we will be using..
..

.this one shows the entanglement between the drains and the water lines..
it also shows that the telephone company and the cable company would rather run their wires under the joists, even though there are plenty of holes already drilled that they could have used..

..

I decided to go ahead and drill the two holes through the beam.
I had to re do my layout but I think it will work.. It has to work, right ? after all, we are tearing out all of the copper..

..

Packer Sunday Win On The Way! Hope JJ has good homecoming with some nice catches....another important win for the Pack today.

Roasted home grown chicken tonight, with home grown squash, home grown potatoes, and home made bread rolls....all we need is a win to go with supper.

Nice neat rat's nest Jim.
