Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I think that mink we caught was a little smaller but not by much. Evil little creature but thankfully not nearly as destructive. Mink only kill one bird per day instead of as many as they can. You are lucky it was already dead. Any idea how? Poison? They are very difficult to trap. They are usually loaded with fleas & ticks too. And who knows what else. Bigz is right: they are a very efficient killer.

Awww, that's right. I remember when that happened Mel. So sorry.

good evening all.,

you do know that a weasel and an ermine are one and the same, right ? an ermine is a weasel with a white winter coat.

I wonder why this one did not change to white ? maybe it is this strange warm winter ?

both of the goslings are gone.. I suspect my own Frankie ate them.. just a hunch, no way to tell for sure..

Jim, I had to look it up. Ermine's are really Stoats (aka short-tailed weasel) and they are known for the black tipped tail. Same family as Weasel but stightly bigger.

Thanks CC, I really miss having them around too.

Hi All!

Glad you found it dead before it did any damage!

Doctor thinks I'll make it at least another 3 weeks, that's when my next appointment is. I go to the cardio. doc. Wed.

Have to venture out for feed today.

Night All!

Not sleeping, I realized I forgot some news.....

Rudy gained some "Good Dog" points!
Just before dark I went to close the coop up and Rudy went out with me. When I came in and turned to the door to call Rudy I saw a coyote in the pasture behind our yard. Rudy took off after it! After he ran it off he sat right at the edge of our yard for almost a half hour until he was satisfied they were gone! GOOD BOY!

Just found a weasel carcass outside in the yard!  I believe it to be an ermine, as it is not very long.  I'll try to get a good picture of it.  First time seeing one for me, so I'll leave it to experts to properly identify it.

Chickenscratch - Our chickens have really picked up on the egg laying.  They are getting light therapy.

CherMoz-My hens have been on light therapy since the fall. They have light in both sections of the coop as well.

Give Rudy an "atta boy" for me..

Glad the Dr thinks you will make it a few more weeks.

Got home at 6 am from work and my coop light was going on and off. The LED's must not fire real well when it's below 10. Gonna need to get a different light for the next dew weeks I guess according to the forecast. High of 2 Monday.....how the hell can 2 degrees be called a high?!?!
