Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Still Winter here this morning. Yep, the premise ID really makes some folks mad. It's not a big deal really....in the past they were talking about making you show your ID card to buy feed etc...that never developed, but don't be surprised if the Gov does indeed figure out how to make 100% compliance from everyone. Like Jim said...the days of a truly Free America are long gone.

Keeping the fire stirred up...bigz

Yeah I am not fond of the regulation. I understand that they want to be able to trace pathogens. But if you are just raising for your own pleasure or frezzer I don't see the point. Really small backyard flocks are much less likely to get ill in the first place because they don't have the density for viruses thrive or mutate.

It's apparently pretty difficult to be a Polish hen living in Wisconsin. She's got icicles hanging off of her feathers from them hanging in the water when she drinks. Don't worry, I cut them off.

I I am not thrilled about all of the testing and premise I'd stuff either. But I suppose it is what it is. Just incase anyone else would be I terez Ted in getting tested on Sunday, you would save in mileage if you got in on the train.
We have to test because we show. And also with selling. I suppose they just want to be sure we are not selling and showing sick birds. Did you guys hear about the AI breakouts already this year?

On a brighter note, here are the first Blue Laced Red Wyandotte of the year!! ♡♡♡

Going to bed.
I have to get up about 3:30 AM to get the kids, wife, and I ready to fly out to San Diego for my sons USMC boot camp graduation.
I have a trusted friend staying at my house to take care of the animals and chickens.
See you next week!

I made another loaf of BBB today,, shaped it like French bread.
used just the egg white for a wash, worked out perfectly.

next time I am going to add garlic to the mix. real garlic, how much do you think it will take ?

I think I will try just a teaspoonful for the first try.

A lady from further up the road from us ran over our mailbox.
she was looking at a "lightning shaped" icon on her dash board.
She did not know what it meant, and asked me if I did.
I told her that it meant that she was about to hit a mailbox .

We bring Zeke into the house every night for treats. He is learning how to "sit" .. He has mastered how to lead with the leash. no more hard pulling, and he automatically sits when I tie and untie him on his chain.
He sure keeps on growing. I think he is as tall as Frankie, now.
He is 9 months old..

I talked to a breeder about his skittish behavior. she said that was normal for this breed. I was glad to hear that, I was worried that there was something wrong with him. She assured me that several of her dogs acted the same way..

Yeah, that wouldn't be a bad thing to have around as we are starting to discuss exchanges already. Terri, are you still willing to do that? If not, I could make an attempt at creating one.

If our transportation situation allows it, I am planning on coming this year..
I could make a few loaves of BBB ? and some cowboy beans to go with it ? I would use ground venison if nobody objects ..
