Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

If they catch me talking to myself they might lock me away.

today I cut about 2 dozen nice elderberry scions.
I didn't trim on the bush too much.
I left plenty of growth for next years berries..
tomorrow is official yard pick up and get ready for snow day.

Hello Jim. Sorry but it was a beautiful day down here in S. Wisconnie. I was out hauling rock all day & probably will be doing so tomorrow too. On Wed. I will be coop cleaning & winterizing, and getting the chicks ready to get moved out to the coop before the temps drop. Then I want to finish cleaning up the last of the yard to get ready for winter also. The fun never ends. Can't complain about these temps though.

Sorry about the small font. I forgot & can't seem to edit it.

Hey Jim, you aren't crazy, yet. Hoping we don't get the snow. Not quite ready for putting up with it. Plus I have a bunch of mushrooms starting and want them to grow out. Still waiting for the hubby to get the smoker up and running again. I am threatening him with having to eat baked turkey. Tired tonight for some reason. Started an afghan today. Daughter decided I needed to make her a new one of her choosing. This after I have made her 2 new stuffed animals in the last week. Night all.

good morning, happy to see that there are still some people out there..

I didn't sleep well last night, I was fine, but Annie kept getting cramps in her legs. It is caused by Staton meds.
I told her to tell her Dr about it.
just a day ago I saw a news report where they said it would be beneficial for older people to take the meds..
I know that several people get these cramps from them.
so be forewarned .

I am going to get a few bags of potting soil. when this cold spell hits this weekend, I will have some indoor projects to keep me busy.

Yesterday I cut a couple dozen elderberry scions.
today I will cut some apple..
then I have to wrap the window AC units and put the windows back in..
and I want to get everything away from the front of the garage so when I plow snow I won't have to dodge around anything.. there isn't much to move. just a couple of boards and a small pile of scrap metal..

Annie is cleaning out Ken's room. He was more of a pack rat than I thought. about a dozen assorted jack knives and a real nice skinning knife in a box.
some odds and ends of coin$ .
socks still in the new packages.

Robin, rock on.. you have only a couple of days left for that..

Dae, if your smoker is gas fired, be careful, we lost one great member to a gas fired smoker..

Jim, it is powered by a gas grill element. It is set up pretty safe and the hubby is remaking the whole set up this year but thanks for the warning. He had better get at it soon though!

I don't know if you ever met Zeke on here.
his burner and pilot light went out.. he went to relight it and the gas had accumulated inside the smoker. when he lit it, the smoker went off like a bomb.. killed him instantly.
be careful...

good early afternoon,

I got my potting soil, and Annie found me dozens of pots that look like they will work OK..

it might be 50F outside, but without the sun it feels cold..

Got my hairs cut today. now I will have to wear a cap.

good afternoon,

we worked outside until we got rained out.

got most of the junk hauled away from the front of the garage.
tomorrow I should be able to spread some fresh granite across in front of the garage doors.

got the window air conditioners insulated and covered and the windows closed.
all ready for hibernation..

Thanks for the heads up, Jim. I will be very careful. I used to work on the river clamming when it was still legal. We cooked our clams out and I had something similar happen with the cooker. Luckily with much better results. I am always very careful around fire, especially when lighting it.

I am wondering, Jim. What are you going to have left to do next year? LOL. You are such a busy beaver.

good morning,'
getting an early start today,, not by choice, just woke up before 4AM and couldn't get back to sleep.

Funny you should ask what I am doing next summer.
I was just thinking about that last night..
I decided , no big projects..
I want to just putter with the garden and try to start the new orchard.
I have a row of grapes in there already.

I am hoping all or at least some of these many scions take root.
I have never done scions before except to graft a couple of apple trees to root stock.
