Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good afternoon,

by 8:3oAM I was ready for a nap.. I wasn't feeling to chipper.
at 10:3o I woke up. went outside and finished up in front of the garage. then I dumped a couple of buckets on the apron of the OH Door and smoothed it out.

still had about a yard of granite left, so I dumped a couple buckets in where the low spots were in the driveway. smoothed that out.

still had about a half yard of granite, so I extended the driveway to go in front of the west lean to. now I have a nicer parking pad for the tractor.

It was plenty chilly when I started.. wore gloves for the first time this year.
Now I am finished and the sun comes out.. go figure..

Got all 4 strawberry beds raked off and any weeds pulled out. Raked off the 2 onion beds but still have to weed them. Then I am going to put out the onion sets and cover all 6 of those areas with a layer of composted sawdust then a layer of dirt out of the chicken run and then a bit more of the sawdust. I have a ton of strawberry plants that have rooted in outside of the beds but I will wait until spring to transplant them. I can't believe how many plants are out there even after I gave away (literally) 300 plants last year. Mushroom logs are still fruiting with this nice weather.

Hubby finally is getting started on fixing my smoker. I guess the threat of baked turkey finally hit home. Daughter has only made it one full day at school this week. She got sick Sunday and so did my hubby. Yesterday I woke up with the crud but I feel better today. I probably have a couple more yucky days to go, but I am working through it.

Hi ,

today Annie, Kalib and I wrestled the big oxie entertainment center out of the bedroom, through the living room and out onto the deck.. whoever invented that monstrosity should be hung and then shot..
DD Brenda is the one who brought it into our house. she has long since moved out..
Once we got it loaded onto the loader bucket, It was not so heavy. I hauled it back to the burn pile, crushed it as much as I could and deposited it way up on top.. It will no longer give anybody any grief..

then I got the rototiller back out of it's winter bed and put it to work. I tilled a loooong row along the edge of the garden and made one long hill. now it will be ready next spring for planting potatoes. I figure I will get the taters planted 2 or 3 weeks earlier this way.

I am cooking 2 roosters for thanksgiving. I don't have the heart to butcher those pullets.. I don't think there is a rooster in the whole 3 dozen of them.

maybe next year I will get some cornish/X and do my little chicken feast ..

I am going to cut the chickens into pieces before roasting them,, they are such a mess to try to carve when they are hot out of the oven..
we are not having anybody here that we need to impress with whole roasted birds.. LOL

good morning,
got up at 3 AM, took a nap at 8..
by then I had taken down all the knick knack shelves in the bedroom. about a dozen of them,

going to paint the two walls that do not have paneling on them, the shelves will not be going back up..

the imbeded tobacco smoke smell is just about gone.
it helped to get rid of the clothes from the closet and removing an overstuffed chair.

someone is supposed to be coming from Antigo to get all 7 of the cockatiels. no more birds.. yippee ..

I might be able to finish the other half of the hilled row I started yesterday.

Nothing like putting stuff off until the last minute: I finally cleared the leaves off the driveway. Also edged, which was the hard part. Darn creeping charlie & virginia creeper trying to take over my driveway like a jungle engulfing an ancient temple.

Then cleaned up after the pissers I mean rabbits. Well, Schwifty Benito can't help being a slob, he's got neurological problems. I could go for a nap about now, but no rest for the wicked.

good afternoon,

there is too, rest for the wicked.. I just took another nap..

I did a few last minute outside things. rolled up the hoses and stored them under the deck.

stuffed the 2" flex sump pump hose into a 4" rigid pipe.
It should drain better now and not freeze up.

put some tools into the lean to, closed the garage door.

got a bag of sand on the dolly to bring into the house when I am ready to pot some more scions.

brought in a buttercup squash to go with the ham for supper.

and now we just wait for the snow to come.. and the cold to come..
the anticipation is always worse than the actual arrival of winter..

the lady who is supposed to come and pick up the 7 cockatiels has not called, so we are still hoping she comes.

ETA: I spoke too soon, as soon as I submitted this post, she showed up. and now she is gone and so are all of the cockatiels.. ..

good windy opening day of gun season,

I am glad I am not in the woods today.

DD's boyfriend got a buck and a doe before 8 AM.

I heard one lone shot at about 9 AM to the East of our house.

Frankie is tied up for the duration. don't need her getting mistaken for a wolf. Zeke will stay with her without being tied.

If you go into the woods, be careful, lots of firewood falling from the trees..

Not going hunting this year but my cousin from across the state got a buck and doe before 8 as well. Guess who got to be the butcher? LOL I am exhausted tonight and still have to package half of it then can the rest. Ah well, it's what I do, I help.

good morning,
I hope you get a ration of the meat you process for everybody else..
Because of my bad eyes, I had to give up hunting.
My brother usually supplies me with venison .

I took pictures of Zeke today to send to a friend in Texas.

he is about 2 1/2 years old .
