Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning,

getting things done around here.
planning on moving into the corner bedroom by this weekend.

getting two chickens out of the freezer this morning, I want them thawed so I can cut them into pieces before I roast them, using the Nesco roaster.

bro Dave came here last night and ground up the meat trimmings from his 3 deer. ended up with 80 pounds of hamburger.

His son, Jake did the grinding, Dave packaged and vacuum sealed..

then I had Jake adjust the closet doors fo me..

He is a builder. He worked for me for many years.
Now he is building a $2 Million Dollar house for a doctor.
Completely finished basement, first floor , second floor and attic ..
Time and material.. I must have taught him well.

Annie is baking a chocolate and a lemon pie today..

I will do all the rest of the cooking.

we will be having only 6 people for TG dinner..

I hope there is somebody here to read these posts.

I made the dressing today. Annie made a chocolate and a lemon pie before she went to work.

the 2 chickens are just about thawed. I will get up early and cut them into pieces before baking them.

it is raining and snowing here right now.

ill read em Jim! Been mia for a week or so. Working lots which is nice for extra holiday money. And we been working on the house a bit too. Even got a new patio door in this past Friday before the wind started. I had the pleasure of carrying it up onto the deck myself. I woulda been f'd if the wind would have kicked up then. Down to Appleton tomorrow for some family time. Have a great holiday everyone and be safe.

Thanks, CC! I did find someone to mind the critters while I'm gone. (I have all the J feeders wired to the cages but the others are a bit more difficult to wire securely. ) I always feel better if there is someone there to actually put eyes on everything every day to make sure all is well while I'm gone. Now I can have a good time and not worry.

I hope you all have a very blessed Thanksgiving! XOXO

Glad to hear you found a sitter Irish. I know what you mean about feeling better having someone look in on them. Ya just never know. Safe travels!

I'm here too Jim.

Happy turkey day everyone!

good morning,

black friday; I can't believe people are so anxious to spend their money.

the advertisers have raped another icon.
black friday isn't supposed to run for a whole month.

our thanksgiving went according to plan.
Barby did shampoo the bedroom carpet. and then she did the living room , too. we didn't move any couches. she did just the main used area. Kalib and I moved the coffee table and small stuff like that.

we put the dehumidifier into the bedroom this morning.
Barby said it would dry out by this morning, Not.. when the weather outside is at 100% .

I have a question. why don't small appliance mfgr's put decent handles on the appliance. sure , they put wheels on them, but those wheels are useless when carrying it up the stairs. this rant is over..

cutting the chicken up before roasting sure is the way to go. when it is time to serve, just plop the pieces onto a platter and voila, done..

ours was pretty much a home grown meal from the garden,. corn, squash, potatoes and the chickens, too..

FYI
The Nesco had the chicken well done in less than 5 hours at 250*F. the directions said give it 6 hours.
I think cutting the chicken up speeded up the cooking time.

. I didn't put the backs and necks into the Nesco. they went into a stock pot for soup base.
