Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Gave up on the remaining eggs. The speckled sussex remaining were all duds, but of the remaining welsummers 4 had full grown chicks that died pre-hatch. Those of you that have years of hatching history, what could cause a chick to die at the end of its 21 day cycle?

You did say you had a power outage for a few hours, yes? I'm betting on the temperature loss. Even a few degrees can be crucial to the less than robust ones. I wouldn't worry too much on it. Chit happens unfortunately.

Great job on the chick, duster. I think cs was right by her being dehydrated. Hopefully she will be getting strong like her siblings now. It pays to catch things early sometimes.

Cold, wet, gloomy day down here too Bigz. I think we are all ready for spring to spring.

Bidding war on the property. Fingers crossed........

are you sure there is another bidder ? or is the realtor just trying to up the ante ?

car salesmen try this. and others, too.
as soon as they come at me with the other bidder, I tell them to sell it to them, then.. and I walk..

I never had it happen on real estate, though..

as Brent would say,, "just saying"

Well we took on water again, but fortunately (?) not in the same spot. This time it came in from somewhere in the direction of the front of the house. It appears to be coming in under a covered mound (our basement is not finished and has a thick plastic over half of the basement to filter out radon). Ugh! I don't like being a home owner at times like this.

I am curious, who put the plastic in the basement ?
Is the plastic over bare dirt ?
or concrete ?
where did you hear that you could filter radon ?

Dang weather can really cause problems at times. Hope you figure out a solution cs...so the future will be dry!

Yep, Best Wishes bl4....if it's what you are lookin for, don't cheap out and regret not getting it....on the other hand, different stuff comes up for sale all the time, and maybe the best is yet to find.

Good thing about all the rain is the trees that were planted. Jim mentioned something about that a couple days ago.... and yep, years ago was the best time to plant a tree, and the next best time to plant a tree is today! I've been plating every year since I was a young man...this year only a dozen were added, but the diversity here with the constant planting is exactly what I wanted to do with the property. The wildlife here is amazing compared to what was here 50 years ago.
