Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good afternoon, went to town and treated myself to breakfast..
I delivered 10 dozen eggs to one man.. He distrubutes them to his relatives..

My UPS order came from Culvers Supply.. I got the seal replaced on the door and am waiting for the bator to come up to temp, now.. Then I am going to add water to see what the humidity will be like.. I have to get this one up to 60% for hatching.

I bought two sample plastic trays that hold 59 eggs each.. they will be good for guinea eggs and bantam chicken and maybe small chicken too.. I might be able to triple stack these,,.. I will give it a try later on..

I was surprised with the 110V 250W heating coil, though.. It is only like 1/8" diameter and about 5 inches long.. I don't know if I can adapt that into my brooder hood or not. . jury rigging time..

BP, that is not good about those coyotes. people in this neighborhood say they see them and hear them, I have yet to do either.. Now if you want to talk about foxes and owls<<,,,,
I live right near the Little Rib RIver and everything comes to visit us.. bears, fox, mink, weasels, bobcat, owl, hawk, woodchucks and raccoons, pine snakes (almost 78 inches long).. I even saw a fisher, but he stayed down by the river..

I noticed that you have call ducks.. are they show quality ? I know a lady looking for just pet quality.. are you going to have extra eggs?

I got my second incubator going.. holding 60% humidity and 97F
going to try to get it up to 99F.. then I will be ready on the 9th to put the first batch of eggs in there to hatch..

Hello,
Is anyone going to the Fond du Lac game bird swap next Saturday (the 12th)? My sister is into peafowl, pheasants and swans, so she thought she'd go check it out. (We're from the middle of Minnesota) Of course, I'm tagging along.

I just have OEGBs though. Do you know if there will be any there or is it just game birds? Is there anyone around there or between Minnesota and Fond du Lac that has OEGs? I looking for gold, silver or buff-laced, chocolate and blue spangled. I don't have alot of money, so maybe hatching eggs? I don't have alot of luck with mailed eggs so thought if somebody that way has some maybe I could pick them up on the way.

well, you came to the right place,,.. I don't have any of what you are looking for, but this is still the right place...''

FondDuLac has just about everything.. I won't be going this year.. unless I can talk my brother into driving..

I have a couple blk cochin hens I was thinking of getting rid of ( I want color and they are blk) I you need some hens to replace your lost ones. I don't know how many you lost, but just thought I would offer.
Ok so I have a incubating question. Now jim and BCC- be nice

I have a hovabator, still air and this is the first time for me hatching chicken eggs. I hatched quail eggs last Nov, so I figure chickens can't be much harder. The temp is holding at 101.3 and the humidity is 60%. Is that good or should I lower the humidity to 50, 55ish? If they were my eggs it wouldn't be a big deal, I would trial and error it, but I bought eggs this time and for what I'm paying for them I really don't want to screw them up. Also I don't have a turner, but was thinking of puting a piece of wood in there and leaning an egg carton to one side and rotating it three times a day, like a turner. Would this work or should I just break down and buy a turner? DH says I should just buy a turner but that makes these eggs really expensive. Ok I think thats it. I'll be a nervous wrack until these eggs hatch and they haven't even got here yet. Thanks for listening. Have a good night everyone.

WE GOT THE HOUSE (to rent!!) Its the one that I mentioned before that my barn owner and her friend thought had the barn and equipment shed...
It has a chicken house behind the equip shed...
It may be a few months, but I am sure I will have my chickens with me!!!
AND perhaps someday, in a year or so.. they might let us fence off the area behind the equipment shed and put the horses there, it would only be a small pasture
or large paddock.. but still!!
Green Co. has no minimum acreage requirements!!
Here is a birds eye view of the place I will get pics taken tomorrow!!
All new paint, all new carpets, windows.. out in the country but just a few miles from main highways to Madison so the commute won't be bad for DH.

For only 500 a month!

FC, where is the March 12th one?

ON a side note.. and one want 4 FREE parakeets- 2 english budgies , 2 normals (2 male/female pairs)
there are a pair of blues and a pair of greens. the male english are blue and green, the females are the normal.
They would come with their cage, food, treats, extras .. they are not hand tame, as I got the males too old to tame, and same with the females.
They would be great breeders!
Here are some pics. I am not sure if all keets pictured (except the green/olive English budgie-JB) are of the birds.. I know I don't have a current
pic of Tanner the blue male.

(the green pictured in the last pic is probably a male I rehomed, You can see JB's head in that shot)

Located south of Madison, I can meet you partway if need be.
Let me know
