If the fuel filter is easy to get at ...I would change that out for a fresh one.

IDK too much about diesel ..
but I don't think the fuel would jell at just
minus 3 degrees..
can you put Heat in diesel fuel ?
If it does get above freezing, I would disconnect the fuel line as close to the engine as I could and then pump some of the fuel/water out of the line..
if/when you take the fuel filter off. see if there is ice in it..

one of the girls taught herself how to climb the 3 stairs from the sunroom up into the living room today..

Made it ... now off to explore the living room
in a little while she went back down those stairs. it was not graceful, lots of crying, but whe managed.
not bad for her first time..

ETA: puppies must learn by watching. it wasn't long before we had
three puppies in the living room..

Nephew just stopped in long enough to drop off a 36" Northern
he fishes, but doesn't eat fish.
I don't mind cleaning them and eating them.
I make northern hash..
lotsa onion and some garlic and butter in a big frying pan. put the fileted chunks in with the bones still in. start frying the fish on low heat. as the meat starts to turn white and easy to tear apart,
I start pulling the bones out. by the time the fish is fully cooked,
all the bones are in the garbage..
then I chop and stir until it looks like canned tuna.
eat it as is, or make sandwiches.
good eats..

today I put my 4" jointer all back together. I used the "domino" setting jig I made. It worked perfectly.
ran a few boards thru to test it out. It never ran as smooth since I bought it.
now I have two good working jointers. but wait ; I have a small one I started reconditioning a couple of years ago. I think I will dig it out and finish the project. then I will sell that one.

the fish weighed 11 pounds and was
35 inches long.
just as I started cleaning it my brother walked in. took one look and said I was doing it wrong.
I handed him the knife and sat back and watched how it was done correctly..
I cost me only one bottle of beer.. LOL
it's funny how much they look and weigh before you get out the ruler and scale..

was watching the Vikings lose. quit watching when the score became 31-7.
poor vi-queens. won't get to play in their
nice stadium.

I should be taking pictures of the pups daily. they change so fast..
they are getting playful, even with us.
our 5 month old pup loves to play with them, too. he is surprisingly gentle..

got 5 gal of gas . I hope I don't have to use it all up with this next snowfall.

One of my pullets laid an egg yesterday. It was a soft-shell egg, hopefully just a fluke. Since I just moved them in with the big chickens last night, I hope the trauma of the move doesn't stall production. I wasn't sure if they would lay this winter or not.

didn't do anything today except plow the 6" of snow. was done with that by 9:3o AM.

chickens don't get traumatized too easily.
I have bought chickens and they laid eggs in the cage on the way home.

Snow day! No school here, we had everything except a tornado! Rain, thunderstorms, hail, freezing rain, and snow. Nice layer of ice under about 5” of good packing snow. The fence in the one photo marks the back of the property (we think).

I don't feed the birds at our place - there gets to be too many if I do and then they are in the chicken and guinny coops eating the chicken feed. It also attracts coons, skunks and deer into the yard. There is a wild area across the road that is woods, wetland and abandoned fields - so lots of wildlife. I let the neighbors feed the birds, so I get to see a lot of birds in our trees anyway. My guinnys go visit them everyday to eat the sunflower seeds she puts out for them. For some reason they don't seem to have quite the problem with wildlife like we do.
