Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi, noon,
I was going to make the ramps for the lawn mower onto the pick up truck.
But, Annie just took the truck to town, I need it for measuring the length of boards I need.
I have to have the mower high enough so that I don't have to get on the ground to work on it.. once I am the ground, I have a really hard time getting up.. I must look like a walrus , rolling around to get into a position to get up..:old I am past the golden years, moving quickly into the leaden years..:th

Did you get your boards measured today?
I've got nine quart jars of marina sauce ready to be processed.

I got the boards measured for length,
that's as far as I got. the truck is going again.
have a more pressing project.
the plums are dead ripe, I have to get a tarp spread under the tree if I want to collect any of them,,..
I want to make some plum jelly. I have never done that before, so utube, here I come once again..
these plums are very sweet and insect free.. this will be our first real crop from that tree..

Good luck with the plumb jelly...can't say I ever remember trying that. We are doing another 14 pints of salsa today...still have enough V8 left from last year, so we will be canning stewed tomatoes for Angie in the next couple of batches.... don't know if I mentioned or not, but counting heads today I see I'm missing one bird.....always something looking for a easy meal....we keep close eye, but so does all the preds….

I did a lot of you tube searching for plum jelly.
I picked up a couple of pointers, and rejected the ones where the wormen were cutting the pits out of each plum and cutting the plums into 1/16th's.
I am not about to do that to 200 plums.
I wonder if a cherry pitter would work ?
or an olive pitter.?
I have neither machine.
I called my sister. she had no recollection of Mom ever doing plums..
I think I will boil them like Annie does with cranberries. then mash the plums and strain the pits out of the mash..
after that, I know what do do..
My sister suggested that I go search on "recipes" .. I will do that right now.
Brent, maybe your chicken just flew the coop.
wait 3 weeks and see if she returns..
I took the loader and turned my wood chip pile over. it is almost rotted to the point of being dirt. I took a scoop and mulched around the 3 grape vines out front.

Our house in Wega had a plum tree. The first few years we were at the house it was an amazing producer. Trixie (the dog) would eat the fallen ones off the ground. I managed to make plum jam once.... tasted like prune spread...... apparently the tree was very old, it died about 5 years after we bought the house.....

Have to make Kraut this year...... just need to find the time. I need to harvest my honey this weekend too.

I am not a huge plum fan, so when I ended up with a boatload of plums from a farm basket program I joined out in Wyoming - I canned up some plum sauce. It is a lot like the plum sauce for Chinese food, only I doubled the garlic that the recipe called for. ;) We like to use it on roast pork loin and boneless chicken breast.

Cleaned out the barn yesterday. Used some salvaged store shelf units for organization.
It is so nice to finally have a clean and open barn again. Not to mention actually being able to find my poultry supplies when I need it.
I finally narrowed down who all of my current layers are. I have 7 currently laying hens but I am only keeping 6 or 7 hens total so I need to make my final selection.

This is the third watermelon (home grown) we've had and the best! I have to be a little more patient.
