Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

@keedokes No thanks! We moved every 5-6 years. After moving 16 hours and 4 states away from the last place, they are going to have to carry me out feet first from this place - I am not packing and moving again. Shoot, i shouldn't put that in writing - hopefully I didn't just curse myself.

That's a good price for that deal on the LS wyo. We paid over 18k at Camp for the Deere with just a mower deck and blower....I'm going to look closer at the LS...love the 6 year warranty they offer at no additional cost.
Huge ash blew down across the logging road in the woods.....took quite a while to get it cleared off the road. It will provide a lot of firewood for next year....at least 4 face cords in just that tree. I'll be working another day on it for sure.
Passed on a large doe tonight....I need her around to bring in the large 8 that shows up on camera after hours...for the time being.

I'm not sure if I am going to hunt this year of not. We haven't been seeing much deer sign on our property, so I'm not sure if it will be worth it to sit. We usually have at least 8 deer in our hay field every night, but I have not seen a single deer there for the last 2 months. Maybe when I clean out the garden and put a ton of old tomatoes on the compost pile, maybe they will show up then. No baiting allowed in my county, so everything goes on the compost pile.

we lived in this house for 51 years.
If we ever have to move, I will have an auction and sell everything that isn't nailed down..
we have two upright pianos, the one in the basement will go with the house..

Remind me how many acres you have there Jim.
The wind just won't let up....I don't like to hunt in this wind, but it's time to fill a tag and get some fresh venzun in the freezer....sure wish one of the nice bucks running around would fall in love and make a mistake. Gonna need to work on the ash another day...after 2 cuts today with the leaves on the ground I managed to hit a rock with the saw. It took 3 different tries at touching up the chain to get it to cut halfway decent....managed to get another face out anyway. We have rocks everywhere here.

we started out with 9 acres of a 10 acre square.
then we sold a half acre to the people who bought the one acre corner of the ten.
so now we have 8 1/2 acres..
Oh how I could use a back hoe..
I saw a guy on utube making raised beds with a rototiller on his mid sized tractor.
I am thinking of making hills for Barby for planting corn next spring.
the rows would be wider than the 31 inches that I do now, but then I think I could use the tractor for cultivating.. the garden is large enough so that we can waste some space..

That size property will have a lot of folks interested when ever you do decide to sell....I hope I can live here till the end, and I'm sure you are too. Living in the country gives your life purpose in so many ways.
Yep, I could use a backhoe here too. If only I was younger and could enjoy all the results from the work.
Saw 8 deer tonight...one fork horn. They all managed to stay just out of range....wonder why? LOL!

Almost finished with the chest. I am going to line the lid and the bottom of the chest with cedar for added support and of course the clothing protection..... it was a very worn out piece when I started. I want to finish it by Saturday.

I’ll post the finished product too.

Sorry for being off topic. Does anyone know of someone with bantams around southeastern WI. I have one hen bantam. Would like to rehome in spring. She is 1 amongst standards. I rehomed the roo bantams before last winter and the couple I gave them to didn't know how to care for them and they didn't make it. So I would prefer to find someone who has Bantams and I want to make sure I get her though winter before rehoming.

@belindaschicks You are never off topic on this thread, lol!
We switch topics so fast, it makes my head whirl sometimes.

Here I go - switching topics:

Does anyone weigh their cornish cross before butchering? I am trying to figure out when is freezer camp for my meat birds.
