BL4 , you could have posted that picture and told us that it was life sized. who could tell ?
Tonight I baked two pie crusts and a cherry pie. and a pan of dinner rolls.. I will fill the crusts with lemon and banana creme tomorrow.
in the morning I will also make the stuffing.

We had a wonderful Christmas. A quick boomerang trip up north to visit family, I was happy I managed to see all 4 kids over the holiday.

Now back to business. I need to contact a couple of pole barn builders and see what they can do for us. I have already contacted the timber consultants to work out when they can come out and give us a price estimate......

Taking the hubs out tonight. He needs to be spoiled once in a while....

We are still holiday-ing over here. I'm back to work but we haven't finished gifting to the kids yet. There are two with their dad, and so we're just stretching out the celebration. HUGE thanks to everyone here who pitched in and just...made our holiday an actual holiday.

On a personal Christmas miracle front--someone is GIFTING me 25 pure Icelandic chickens (spring hatch to two years old), a brand new incubator, and 600lbs of scratch grains (WUT. I'm astounded.). I'm going to pick up everything on Saturday. I've wanted Icies for awhile but they're hard to get into (read: expensive) and this seems unreal to me. The family I'm getting them from just bought a winter home in FL and didn't want to put out family or neighbors having someone else take care of their birds half of the year. I'm SO EXCITED. It's like...I truly believe that moving here was absolutely the best decision and it keeps getting affirmed. I know there are always road blocks and those don't go away but the overall trend is up. We just have to keep fighting for our dream.

PS we counted birds last night after our last cull of a sick hen. 60-80 birds my behind. 86! And we've lost five since we've moved here because of a few culls and stabilizing everyone. Geez.

PPS HOLY CRAP we got propane delivery this morning (the minimum order of 200 gallons) and went out to pay the guy...and someone had already paid for our delivery.
