Two pounds of Fleischman's yeast for under $5.oo.
I didn't even look at the flour. somebody put it away before I saw it.
she got me the instant yeast. I never used instant before. I guess I can get used to it.
I made 3 batches of dinner rolls before noon today. For a friend of Annie. she gave me a Christmas card with $25.oo in it and a gift bag with cheese and candy ..

Nothing better than practical gifts that you can actually use. We all have enough things and junk at our age.
I was going to split wood today, but Suzie is working on Christmas food all day and I prefer a lever person to make things go faster when splitting. I like working in the kitchen too, but would rather be the boss than the helper...

I made two more batches of rolls this morning.
Wyo, DD Did get the Dakota Maid flour.
I haven't used it yet. still have some in the bin to use up..
I used the instant yeast for the first time.
I was concerned that the dough wasn't rising .but given time, it finally riz..

I am in search of an inexpensive Australorpe about 1 yr old. I will be happy to take a younger one if available. I got a chicken to replace the polish white when she passed away and now my Rhode Island was stolen and so the one I got to replace the polish is now without a buddy and traumatized because an opossum decided to try to stay warm in her igloo.

Merry Christmas morning,
Last night Annie and I were completely alone here for the first time since I can remember. Probably over 30 years. No other people, no dog or cat. no chickens.
It was so quiet I could hardly get to sleep.
I could easily get used to this.
Today the two daughters are bringing food and preparing dinner for 9 people.
By early evening everybody should be gone home and we will be alone again. Ahhhh

She is getting better but I still think she needs a friend. I am over it just worried about my pet

Chickens are a flock bird and need company to be happy. Even if they squabble, they prefer that to being alone. I'd find another bird or two to share the digs.

I took a short ride on Ollie today. hauled the trash out to the road.
had to plow my way out of the garage because the show slid off of the roof.
we made a kettle of pea soup today. yummy.
what's the difference between roast beef and pea soup ?
You can roast beef , but you can't ,,,,,

Now that I've been able to keep the fox away, I am overpopulated with chickens. I like to have 25-35 chickens and 10-15 ducks over winter. I have 59 chickens and 12 ducks. I need to stop letting these hens set. This time of year nobody wants chickens so I'll have to try to rehome them in the spring.
