Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Fish Fry Friday to everyone! Fresh bluegills and ho-made fries tonight....delicious.
Keep the flocks shaded and watered well...tomorrow is going to be a tough one on them and me.
The peeps are growing fast and I need to butcher the 4 roo's that occupy the coop they are going into soon...the brooder in the extra bedroom works well, but caring for birds in a full size coop with attached 12'x12' run will make them happier and Suzie too.
Stay Safe and cool..... bigz

Honey harvest today! I pulled one super and ended up with over two gallons of honey....

Good looking honey, Honey! Do you sell honey too? My neighbor sells honey and prints some cool looking labels for his quart jars.

I don’t sell, it would be a pita..... I just use it for myself and give it out as gifts. Too many beekeepers in the area. Same thing with the eggs.... I don’t have enough hens to sell, so I hand the extras out. I look at it as being neighborly. If they pay me that’s ok, if not that’s ok too. They are always appreciated.

The chicken nuggets moved out Friday..... they are in the chicken tractor and still testing the electric fence...... lol, they still have not figured out they should go INTO the tractor at night..... and I ordered a plucker! I hope it arrives before Christmas.......

The baby ducks are growing fast, hoping they are also evicted from the basement soon..... I think they need to be a little bit bigger before they get to hang out with the big ducks. Fingers crossed they are all girls. Right now I have three drakes and two hens..... so four more hens would be ideal.......

what king of plucker did you order ?
what brand ?
today I made five retrofit self waterers for the tomatoes. It is a design I came up with on my own.
I hope they work.
when I lifted pails with the tomato plants in them, the roots were growing into the ground.
I have a tomato about ripe for the picking.
so far we picked 70 cherry tomatoes off of that Ban Zai bush..

Welcome to the cheeseheads Noelle. Best wishes with the project. I know someone a while back was looking for Serama chicks.
Most of us here are meat and potato folks...if that makes sense, but layers of nice eggs fits most of our thoughts on efforts with the flock.
Covid really put a pause on poultry shows for now....hope we can all get back to normal soon.
Good Luck!

Stay safe..bigz
