Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I'm out there all the time and he stays his distance, and if I think he is getting a little too close, I call Cooper over.

He's more than glad to get in Eddies face.:D
Last summer, we were overrun with red squirrels so I got out my 20-gauge and eliminated a few dozen over the course of several weeks. The first couple, the rooster would have the hens all running for the coop. After several more, nobody was excited anymore, but when months went by and he went after me, I went in the house for the shotgun. He ran to the coop, but it worked as he never did it since.

nice day for deer hunting.
we don't go anymore.
haven't heard any shooting.
the big gangs aren't around an y more.
they either got too old or died.
the younger generation are not that gung ho about it.
we have trapped 21 red squirrels so far. there are at least two more . probably more..

There is a lot of bangs around here. I would be hunting but we dont have a place to go this year.

My Alpha Roo will get a little uppity at times. I have clobbered him with a bucket before….. the hubs will snatch him and carry him around to show him who is boss. I usually bring a stick with me when entering the pen, just in case he gets a little frisky. He never chases us down and is just fine free ranging; only gets a tad defensive when you enter the pen.

I would rather have a good roo that is protective of his flock, than one that runs away. The Beta roo we have is downright pathetic.
