all I know about Silkies is that they taste like chicken.
I am not ready for winter. yesterday I graded the driveway a little. didn't do a very good job of it. I need a load of granite ..
next week we are supposed to get into the 50 F's . I hope it doesn't rain then.

The time I had Silkie it actually tasted a bit sweeter than the usual heritage bird, with heritage bird flavor.

We just got 17 yards (a load) for our driveway and the backup area by our house where the mailman/lady got stuck twice last winter. Hubby hauled 8 wheelbarrows down toward the end, then came in and said he did the math and it'll only be 110 more wheelbarrows.

I called the neighbor and she was excited to bring her skid steer thing over and in about 20 minutes she had half the pile gone.

I spread it with the tractor and loader bucket.
it took only a few minutes. I extended the parking area for at least four more cars.
If only people would learn how to park with some consideration for others.. how do you paint yellow lines on granite ?
no kidding. there is room for about ten cars easily. there can be three cars out there and somebody will get parked in. unbelievable ..

Frustrating!! Sounds like kids but bet it's not. Can you assign parking spots to everyone or use cones or big rocks to section it off? Maybe if you just sectioned off one or two spots, they'd get the hint?

no, I don't want any obstacles in the way for when I plow snow.
the problem is everybody. I can holler at my kids, but I don't want to be rude to company..
I will just sit aside and let them play bumpercars.. lol
if it gets up into the 40's today, I want to grade the driveway some more.
I wish I had a box blade.

We discovered one of our Brahmas is an egg eater. Caught her running around with an egg in her mouth. Now we’re concerned the other Brahma has taken up the same bad habit. She sits in the nesting box, but we didn’t see any egg afterward.

We have a brown fake egg in each of the nesting boxes, which the New Hampshire tends to pull out and sit on while she’s laying - we always put them back. We check for eggs consistently every morning, and throughout the day. Other than culling them, what do you recommend? Mustard in a blown egg?

Well i havent gotten eggs in almost 2 months. And found a egg on the ground that wasnt touched but cracked open. So knowing they are eating their eggs im going to try the mustard thing.

Our actual egg eater who ate eggs that were under a broody got culled.

If she's lacking a vitamin, she may be trying to get some. If you're already giving them oyster shells on the side, maybe try crushing a calcium pill or Tums and sprinkling it on their food or set out more than one dish of oyster shells so there's no excuse they didn't see it. I haven't had this happen in all my years and I'm not 100% faithful about the oyster shell either so that's just a crap shoot it might help.

In regards to the egg eater. If you don't have curtains on the front of the nest boxes, they do help. Chickens won't eat eggs they can't see. If you are collecting often, that really helps a lot. Keep a close eye on the situation is your best bet. Good Luck.
Egg numbers do drop this time of year too.

I put golf balls in the nest boxes, painted some of them brown. Never had any issues after that.
