Terri- did you ever talk to your neighbor about a call hen for me?
Glad to know your cold is gone.
My broodie silkie may be sharing eggs with a polish hen, She seemed to say "mine mine mine!".. and then yesterday.. eh..
hu.gif
.. grrr.. so lets HOPE she stays broodie!

And now my current land lord is driving me nuts. She asked my DH when we could be out.. so today I texted her to pin her down on the lease, and moving out early vs having to pay May rent, and her not letting
us out of our lease early. And if she has rented the house. It is no longer on the CL, so I am hopeful. BUT...I am not moving all my stuff early, if I have to pay May rent.. I aint moving all my stuff out and won't surrender the house if I have to pay HER rent in May.
She wouldn't say via text but said she would send an email.. which means she is gonna try to have her cake and eat it too!!!. IE make us pay rent in May, and rent it to a new person in May..
I think what she is charging for rent to the new renters is ridiculous, 25 more than what she is charging us, so close to 750 a month for a tiny house... like one of those eco friendly houses that you can fit on the back of a large trailer or the ones that used to be container boxes... This house is about that big.
Sooo the email should be interesting.

Glad to hear that the damage missed most people and that Dr. H's sump pumps are keeping the water down...
Doc.. have you thought of alternatives to prevent those sleepless nights and potential flood damage? Could you have the property re-graded OR a large drain pipe so the water is funneled through that vs under your floor
joists... Just a thought.

Well off to go work horses and check email..
Carol

I don't believe a landlord can collect double rent, it has to be pro-rated by the number of days someone is there and if your lease is through the end of May that is your right to be there through the end of May. Good Luck.

good afternoon, It is drying up nicely around here.. I took a walk around hrough the orchard and around the garage.. I found the goose sitting on her nest.. Under the big lean-to tucked way back in a narrow opening.. not much for nesting materials.. granite and it looks like a plastic feed sack.. I am going to just let her be.. as long as a stray skunk or coon doesn't find her, she is pretty safe..

My cold is subsidinng a bit.. I have a bit more energy and the nose quit running.. You know what they say. if your nose runs and your feet smell, maybe you are built upside down..

I got the old wheel chair out and got the wheels off of it.. I have to come up with some sort of axle for the plucker now.. Fleet, here I come again.. threaded rod should work for the axle..

Why do people on CL have to be such jacka$$es?? serisouly!

I was texting a person today about a car, I asked for a picture, they sent me one, couldn't tell real well what the color was so I asked and I get back I think dark purple? HOW do you NOT know what color the car is that YOU'RE selling??? asked them how many seat belts and I get I believe 5.
somad.gif
and then hours later I get some random weird text saying uss Oestreich to you and 3 others What the heck is that??? I question it and I get does 730 work? I requestioned that phrase and I get oh sorry I didn't mean to send that. Told them that they're sounding like a scam to me, they deny it is. THis is NOT the first time. do people have nothing better to do than sitting on the puter and posting false ads on CL?? good Lord I got alot to keep anyone busy for the rest of their stupid lives.

Evening All.... Good to hear it's drying up for you Jim....the nose and the yard! Hope the water is backing down for you to Doc!
My brother in Hortonville was told the power will be off for 3 days....he went and bought a generator for the freezer and the fridge.
WE take the electric for granted sometimes.

The peeps are doing great, and really getting the wing feathers already. Glad you enjoy your roo Doc. I can't imagine not being able to have at least one.

Up early for the big hunt in the morning. Haven't heard or seen much really. That can change fast though.... simply pumped to get out in the woods to see and hear it's wonderful place! The first hour of daybreak is truly awesome.... Later... ~ bigzio

well we had to move the 6 week old chicks to the basement in the xlarge dog kennel... they were driving DH nuts with all the tweeting. few more weeks and they can go outside. At least the other girls are loving the bugs outside. seeing if we can enlarge the coop a little.
oth girl
Also finding out that we are just old. Took the 4.5 year old kids to the Dells for the weekend in the waterpark and we could not keep up with them. They just wanted to keep going and after 2 days we were exhausted and they most certainly are not. Just feeling older! But we had a blast on our first little vacation with the kiddos.

Now we just cross our fingers that the 6 week old chicks are both pullets. They both have combs started but no pinking up... so that is promising. Cant get decent pictures to post to ask others.
Do you think 8-10 weeks is a good age to integrate with the other bigger chickens? Also hoping to add one other layer or close to layer to the flock. Then we should be complete. Yeah Enjoy the gorgeous day tomorow everyone!

It's been a busy few days, sorry I didn't check in sooner. We are fine, we watched the light show and no damage at the house. DH said a lg tree in the woods fell but that's all. 14 new chicks here today, so cute. I'll try to post pics.
Hurley I agree, you mess with kids and your done !
Dr H sounds like a really nice day with your roo.

Good evening everyone--I had a run-in with a couple of my horses today. I had one out and tied and 2 4H kids were brushing her. Then two others showed up and I brought out another one for them but our BOSS horse got out and started wailing on the mare. I got the kids out of the way before it escalated and then tried to get the horses untied. The girls' quick release knots didnt work...I got my legs in the way and now am sporting a very large goose egg on one shin and scrapes and a duck egg on the other! Oh am I going to be purple tomorrow! I would post a pic but I dont want to take the ice off...so anyway; I have a feeling that it is going to be a looong day at work tomorrow!
Glad to hear you are having some hatching luck SF! I might have fried my eggs i the bator...it looks like my thermostat is not good. I cant get the sucker to drop down at all! I am a full turn and a half from where I started and the thermometers are the SAME! Cant get them lower than 100...only when I open the box or shut off the fan...not really sure what to do now. I might try candling and see if I can see anything this time.
Good night everyone! Terri O

I got the threaded rod and 4 locking nuts for the wheels.. forgot to get 2 "J" bolts , though.. I guess I can make them if I can find a long enough bolt or threaded rod in the garage..

sold a goose today.. One from the freezer.. have an order for 3 more,..

found the goose on her nest in the lean-to..

The muscovy drakes are trying really hard to pass on their genes.

It looks like I am going to have to start up bator #2.. the turkeys are laying really good.. 3 to 4 eggs every day.. I have all the trays double stacked in bator #1 that I can..

Up to 2 Call duck pips now - I want a duckling by morning SO BADLY! I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon and won't be back home until around 11 on Thursday - babies will be fine in the 'bator until I get back, but I want to see at least one of them hatch before I go! Otherwise, I know I'll miss the whole thing!

Terri O - Well, the Calls are the ONLY thing I'm having luck with this year from my own eggs! I FINALLY have ONE (Columbian) Cochin egg developing in the 'bator - they're still only laying a couple eggs a week from my flock of 10 girls. I have 2 more eggs from this week so far to put into the 'bator on Thursday. And, for some reason, ALL of my Hookbill and Stanbridge White eggs are infertile! Every stinking one! I've thrown out more than 2 dozen of them so far that were non-viable after 2 weeks of incubation, and I just candled another 7 this afternoon that have been in the 'bator a week and are ALL CLEAR. Every single Call egg that I set on the same day is fertile and developing. I just don't understand it. I have a 1:3 drake/hen ratio, fertility should be awesome!

raimnel - We almost got scammed on CL once - we were trying to sell a Wells Cargo enclosed trailer. We got an e-mail from someone who said they were sending a check - they'd send one of "their people" to come pick it up after we got the check. We knew it was fishy, but we decided to see what would happen. We got the check, and it was for almost $400 more than the asking price! The buyer said "Oops, my mistake, just refund my guys the difference when they come to pick up the trailer" - well, we got the check to the bank, and, of course, it was a stolen check. E-mailed the buyer politely telling them that there was a "problem" with the check, and never heard from them again. We DID move the trailer to a neighbor's garage for a few weeks after that, since the buyer had our address from mailing the check to us. Some people!
