maybe I'll just sneak off and come have pizza at your house- might be less stressful for me, although my family is very good about everyone pitching in to bring food that's how it's always been, the other side needs an engraved inviation so they feel that they are welcome and then they still question if it's okay- this is the doing of 1 individual- and that's all I say

Good evening! I am really TIRED...I think I listened to the timer too much today...my legs are hurtin'! I still have to go out and feed and lock up...it got dark really quick! (or maybe there was just so much to read on here that I lost track of time?) Lots of folks hatching early on Mahonri's Easter hatch. Mine are due at precisely 12:06PM Saturday...and they'd better be on time! I dont want to be worrying over them driving for Easter.
Funny about splitting the tractor...I dont know why this amuses me so...I was picturing splitting it the LONG way! No wonder I was so confused. I was thinking like how you eat a fish with bones...lay it on it's back after you take the fins off and put your fork in the belly area and split it right sown the middle! Ha--learned how to do that when I was 3 years old and Dad wasnt going to pick the bones out of fish for 4 kids' dinner! MMMM--I NEED to go fishing!

I just read somewhere on here that a female Coturnix will stay fertile 2 months from her last breeding?

Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this? I think chickens only are for two weeks or so, so this seems kinda farfetched to me.

Guess I better get outside and lock up. Sure am glad I ran water early today...sometimes I wait until night to do it. Well, when it's warm I dont mind doing it at night...right now I just want to crawl into bed! Sweet dreams! Terri O

Shetland are supposed to be nice to spin. Good luck with finding a used wheel...I dont think there are many...I have an Ashford; I think that is the old style. A man where I work spins on an upright...but now he lost his arm in a farming accident so He cant do it any more. He wants to get together though...he has some really nice roving that I wouldnt mind trying. I need to redo my wheel though...it has been up in the attic for a while! Maybe I will bring the carder along for Easter and my nieces and nephews can help card....(yeah right)
I bought some Alpaca wool at a farm near me...havent done anything with it yet...Good luck! T

It will be good to hear about yours.
SF your pictures are so wonderful what camera do you use? We would like to take a class and get a nice camera. Now it's just point and shoot and that's all I know.
DH joins the rest of the group with ( the snow will melt) we got 10" and we will drive in the snow ruts till it melts.
Good night all, Susie

Just got back from the Pullorum testing certification in Waukesha. Large turnout.

Pulled the eggs out of the turner today for Saturday hatch. No major catastrophes yet, temps steady and humidity good. Hoping for a good hatch. (Marans, F1 OEs, Ameraucanas split to fuzzy, and Iowa Blues.) Since all these eggs are due to hatch, it stands to reason that Sandhill would pick now to ship my chick order.

Got a call last night that they're in the mail, no show today so should be here tomorrow am. Going to be LOTS of chicks here in a very short order. The Sandhill order also has some Iowa Blues along with some La Fleche, Spanish Whitefaceds, and some various wyandottes for the layer pen to give me more pretties to cluck over.

Better get that larger brooder done in short order!

Hey I just asked a question, lol that is why when I asked it I used these guys

night all!

I'm getting ready to go to bed,, had to come down and check emails so here I am on chsheads..

speaking of ducks,,this was in one of my emails :
Three women died together in an accident and went to heaven. When they got there, St. Peter said, `we only have one rule here in heaven: Don't step on the ducks!'

So they entered heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck, and although they tried their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally stepped on one. Along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says, 'Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!'

The next day, the second woman stepped accidentally on a duck and along comes St. Peter, who doesn't miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and, not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man, is very, VERY careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks, but one day St. Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on ....very tall, long eyelashes, muscular.

St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.

The happy woman says, 'I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?'

The guy says, 'I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck.'

Good Way Too Early Morning All! got up to go potty at 3 and check the chicks, that was all it took.
