Hmmmm--maybe everyone should try a power outage type "cool down" just before hatching? Ya know Jim, you might want to suggest that on the hatching page...If we all chime in and say it wrong long enough....

that would be GOOD one!

Thinking DrH wont be typing anything tonight...sounds like quite a party with all those ladies and hats no less! THat is just such an adorable picture in my mind...DrH asleep on the picnic table and all his chickens in hats roosting on top of him! Hey RAIM===think you can draw THAT for the shirts?
lau.gif

Well I did it today!!! Quit that darn job on Tuesdays!

The cook seemed none too surprised either...I suspect that she and the other "waitress" spoke of it already. So I called this other one that happens to be my neighbor and she said she would be happy to take my hours! You can have 'em baby! I HATE being a waitress...even if it really isnt a waitress. Just setting up the tables, making the salads, pouring coffee etc and cleaning up after. Dont like it, not gonna do it--yup, that is my new motto!

I was wondering why you would be moving to the Farmington near me RaiQ! Yes that is quite the drive to Sheboygan...but heck, DH goes to Milwaukee every day! THere is actually a farm in Farmington that is going up for sale that is kind of swampy and I thought that it might be the one! I am planning on looking at that place myself...I believe that it is 45 acres though...what I could do with 45 acres....it belongs to a friend of mine now...

Well I think I ought to find something to eat...have a nice night! Terri O

Amyable, thanks for the info on the blue eggs. I picked up 15 from her this afternoon and put them in the 'bator with the call duck eggs I have been collecting. Now all I need to do is get my BIG styrofoam shipping container set up to be a hatcher......

I figured out the the eggs under Jules should be hatching on the 19th!

all 7 are still going strong (all of the ones I took out I put in the 'bator).

How many of you wanted calls again?????

Shanti; not all of us live in the country (some of us hide under the radar.....

) I manage to plant a few tomatoes and that is about it. I like to say I have a Postage Stamp for a yard.... (FM has seen it and can verify).

Jim, happy to hear some good news with those babies! I think they were so far along the temp drop just slowed things down a bit.....

BigZ, is that the same seed place as seed savers??? A membership and gift certificate were the Christmas gifts to my in-laws this year.... I hope they enjoy it being Master Gardeners and all.....

Raiquee, good luck! I know that you will find what you need soon!

Did some calculating to see what we could afford as far as a house payment...... I hope we can even SELL this house to purchase someplace with land (of course the DH wants 50+ acres.... I would be happy with 10....).

Well, what is meant to be will happen I guess!

I visited my friend today who is preggo with twins! She looks really good but she is all baby! She is 27 weeks along and this is their first baby! Boy are those two in for a wild ride.....
wink.png
I am super excited for her and so happy everything is going well!

Back to work tomorrow, I hope nobody decides to have another standoff on that end of town again!

Hey most of us love the webfooted variety of egg laying poultry too!!
I am still hoping for a call duck hen, but I think it may be happiness with a one eyed call drake and a white mallard hen.

Terry, you still didn't answer my question about which fair you were going to show poultry at...
I may have to call you.. LOL

Good Morning Everyone! Boy you guys are the best! Thanks for all the b'day wishes! Laura asked if I wanted something special for supper so we had Braunswieger sammies and I had strawberry shortcake for desert!

Thanks for the PM fm! TO that is a neat pic you painted, I usually don't over indulge but it does happen. Just a nice mellow buzz. My creedo for years has been if you don't like it change it. It gives me a very long todo list.

bl4 hope your hatch goes well! I'm begining to think that Jim is part broody.
lol.png
ODrH it's not too late in the spring to do another hatch! But I'm sure you've already been thinkin along those lines. shanti maybe this isn't a chicken thread maybe it's a compusive liars thread.

Ya that's the ticket! Amable thanks for the offer it's surely appreciated! Bigzio and Susie beat ya to it. And Bigz I got my wish. Now that I've got it I can say it out loud. It was to be surrounded by good, kind people. I like when my wishes come true! Thanks to all of you!!!

Looks like the rain is gonna hold off till this aft think I'll dig out my garden row material for weed control and get it in. And get the cukes and beans in. After this cold wet spring think we're going to go right into August weather. DD and her Beau are coming over for mondo burgers on the grill and B'days tonight, hers is the 15th. His is tomorrow. Think I'll be grillin in the wood shed. Peatwo followed me around the yard yesterday while I was picking up extra sump hoses, no matter where I went I'd turn around and he'd be there. What a weirdo.

Gave me the no thumbs excuse everytime I asked for help. Better go let the monsters out. Have a great one!

good morning, turkey #14 in the hatcher.. 39 chicks in the TV.

the custom eggs are not doing much ,, might not either.. they were old eggs brought to me.. I told the people that they should not collect them for 3 weeks.. I told them not to expect too many to hatch.. I'll give them another day..

Have 49 guinea eggs to set.. have to get at it today..

our garden is still too wet to plant.. I ordered 100 pounds of seed potatoes.. russets.. Annie did not like the Yukon Golds from last year..I did.. But hey,, she does most of the peeling,,

I have some seed corn left from last year,, I have to get some fresh stuff, though.. I am going to plant a lot of sweet corn... we can always let the birds eat the excess..

the neighbor is discing and dragging the field, and our garden, one more time right now, this morning.. that should help dry things out..

I'm going to take the brooder hood out of the juvies' pen.. they don't even go under it at night.. I can use it in the lean-to brooder, which I have to clean out next..

Just time for a quick note before work...I woke to guinea screeeching today and thought "what are they alarming about now?" (at 6 AM) So I rolled over until 7:30...what a great chicken mama! They cry wolf too often! I went out to let them all out and there are two places with BRIGHT red blood spots on the ground the size of a 50 cent piece! Didnt see anything at all. THen here comes one of my young muskovies with fresh blood all over her back. Acting normal, eating not stressed at all! HMMMM--I am going with a hawk "claiming" the drake as they were mating. THink I am right?
Gotta run--have a fantastic day! Terri O

Terri, could be a hawk.. we have one buzzing the yard a couple of times daily.. I think everything looks too big and healthy for it to take a dive.. It is a large hawk though.. I hope it likes red squirrels.. I am not allowed to shoot "Ken's squirrels", but a natural disaster would suit me just fine..

Hi!
I just wanted to respond and say I am right down the road as well....we are just in Dodge county in Rubicon. I am new to chickens. I saw a picture of a cute chicken coop and had my husband make it and we found 10 ready to lay pullets for sale and the rest is history! We have 3 horses, 2 dogs, 6 outdoor cats, 1 indoor cat and 10 chickens. I am already thinking about getting more chickens...I just love them and the girls seem pretty darn happy.
