Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Afternoon all! Just came in to cool off a bit. Dropped and drug 3 smallish trees out and them bucked up and all the tops are in the shed.

Thinking some liquid energy and back out to mow the stinkin lawn again. Afraid if I take the time to sit and eat I'll be all done! Jim I too slept great last night didn't cry like you but the sheets seemed a little moist
hu.gif
That has to be funny to watch a mama turkey worring over ducklings! Can't help but laugh at the thought of the look on her face when they hit the water. bl4 nice score! Bring your instruments along to the Bash you can play and I'll sing. Hope you can play real loud!

I let the kids out around 11:30 5 eggs so far. Have a doe that comes in to eat the salty dirt from the water softener discharge, the other day I saw her cutting through the woods with a fawn in tow. Didn't get a very good look at the fawn but it looked like it didn't have spots. Brief glimse and it was shaded. 2 ticks found still crawlin, hate the stuck kind. Wood makin clothes must need a good spray down again. And I need a hose down myself, so as long as I'm filthy might as well mow. Beverage of choice seems to have evaperated quite a bit, better get another. Taco's tonight with L's salsa

But first need to change water in the minnows and the chicken waterers. Gotta move I keep thinking of things to do.

I got church's back room all set up and waiting for the screens to dry (kind of like waiting for paint to dry but this is photo emulsion instead)

PS, finally got the totals figured on how much the t-shirts are and $10 each will cover the costs! thankfully, cause I didn't want to charge anymore than that. I could have made them more expensive REALLY easy, I picked up more ink today, and took note on how much PRE-made screens are
th.gif
$30 EACH and the biggest one may not have been big enough! man I love my DH, he makes the frames for me to screen. lol
PSs, I'll collect moneys at the bash, IN LIKE 11 DAYS!

This is me running!

Bigz, I used to have so many troubles with deer eating everything in sight in my yard until I read an article saying to make "hair balls" out of human hair stuffed in an old onion/mesh bag & hang it in the plant that is being targeted. I make mine about the size of a golf ball or less. The deer don't like the human scent, & it seems that our hair manages to hold onto this scent for a while. They don't sound very pretty, I know, but they really do work & they don't cost you anything.
Every year we are planting new tree seedlings that look literally like twigs, and since doing this, I no longer have missing seedlings the following morning chewed all the way to the ground. After a couple of seasons, the birds will sometimes raid them for nesting materials, so they wind up serving 2 purposes.
If you don't have an excess of hair on hand, you could maybe ask a local barber/hair salon to save you a small bag. I am sure they wouldn't mind. Just another one of my wacked-out thoughts.

Good idea ! Does it deter any other kind of animal like fox, coyotes etc????
I just cleaned out my hairbrush the other day and told hubby not to throw out the hair. Wanted to put it out someplace so birds could use it for nesting material. We found a very small nest once on the ground that was made out of horse hair, it was adorable !!!

To be honest, I really do not know. I read that article so many years ago, I don't even remember where I read it. I just remember reading it as a repellant for deer, & I knew I had to try it because I was having so many problems with the deer eating my small trees & plants. Since discovering it, I am very happy to say that they finally leave my plants alone. And the best part of it is that it is made out of things we would otherwise throw away.

AH--home from work a tad early today! Nice day to be home early. I totally forgot about the white elephant exchange...gotta find something--there is lots to choose from! Gee-I shouldnt have crushed up my winning paper coop! I could have given that away! Actually I am disgusted that I destroyed it...I also could have entered it in our county fair...what a DOPE! I have to make my entry too...due on the 15th! Sheesh, that is pretty soon...where does the time go?

Has anyone heard from D from FLorida/Wisconsin? I found a solid oak table for her with chairs and leaves in excellent condition...I dont know where to get a hold of her! Any one know her cell number or anything? PM me please!

The little quail are getting their feathers already! I cant believe how fast they are growing! I have guineas in with them and the one lone chick from the mail hatch. Does anyone on here know if you can let the couturnix free range at all? will they come back in like chickens?
Hey Jim--I hear ya about turkeys being good mamas! The one I have has been sitting for almost all summer...I keep taking eggs out of there that slosh but am hoping that at least ONE will hatch so that she has something to mother around! She looks so pale when she comes down from the ceiling...maybe I should just give her some chicken eggs? (just what I need--more chicks!)

Sounds like my garden partner is here...gotta run. Carol--we need to get together! WHat night do you want to come over? Later! Terri O

(PS) ANyone want Trumpet Vines? I cna try to dig tham if anyone is interested...other wise I am mowing them off!~

Nice Evening All... I'm always pleased when I go fishin that I at least catch a meal....sounds like you did good Doc! One always likes to restock the freezer..that's a future fishin trip, eh!

Did some walkin around today...and then did it again...simple easy does it works for me. Not that I need to, just feels right! I know i did before mention this ...I can do nothing with the best .... Be Prepared

Yep talk about Dope...don't forget to bring some just in case...one for the list...NO NOT FOR SMOKIN FOR SKEETS!

This is a really weird, off the topic question. But does anyone know any flying squirrel breeders? The closest one I can find is in Michigan, and he seems like more of a pet store than breeder. I really miss my squirrel and have finally decided to get another one.

Well, nothing so far. Eggs are incubating at 99.5 steady, humidity is up. No pips/peeps/rocking. Thrrrrrrrrrrrrrppppt. That's the last of my efforts with them this season. Will grow up what I have (hopefully) and try for a nice batch of chicks next season.

Will give the eggs in the incubator another day or so just in case.

The lucky 7 are still with us and appear healthy.

Took Thomas for a walk down the lane, had fun naming everything. (Barn! Cilo! Clouds! Flowers! Rocks! Tewoh woh woh = Telephone Pole) He earned himself his first war wounds of the summer. Scraped both knees up pretty good, running and wiping out on the rocks. He got over it faster than the blood clotted, though, so that's good.

Bubbles, my blue merle Aussie female, is in season, so gotta start watching progesterones to hit the right day for breeding. Sire of the litter is on the east coast, so gotta give them a little warning to ship the chill pack this way. Hoping for some really cute pups. This will be a potential all color litter (blue merle, black, red, red merle) and we're hoping for a really cute red merle female to show. Photos of mom and dad on the front page of my site here if you want to see them: Cedar Creek Aussies home page. Really excited for this litter. It's a little something different from the typical lines I use, so hopefully it works out the way we plan! He's a young dog, still out showing, but he's everything we've been looking for in a red tri sire (and that is NOT easy to find) and we have the potential to make some really nice red stuff. He has a very very pretty litter on the ground right now that is almost 8 weeks old and adorable.

Still hoping to make the bash for the Saturday. Is there a plan for "events"? Swap/white elephant/pot luck/etc?

good evening, am about to hit the hay early.. I want to wake up early and see if I can greet Mr Fox.. I have everything inside tonight except the ducks.. they never go in.. I don't know how they got this far without joining Mr Fox for breakfast.

I had the charger on the tractor all day.. only got 60% charge on it.. time for a new battery, I guess.. I did not water the new plants today.. I was afraid to take the tractor out onto the road. I had nobody to push start me if it quit again.

It is supposed to rain tomorrow, can I rely on that?

I ripped all the wires out of the brooder hood and replaced them all.. the old wires were so old and brittle,, I am also going to replace the gfci outlets outside the house and go back to the regular outlets..
