Not sure yet John... But we will let you know. I can only add a few birds and I like variety in eggs and colored birds.

Ok..my knowledge base of wonderful friends... Nicest birds( pets first for the kids) while being great layers...what do you recommend???
Oh and I am not a fan of orpingtons...the last two have been crazy broody. Although the lavenders are sure purdy!

CC- Anything and everything. I'm not really picky about birds, I even like crosses. I think I'm too addicted to poultry

Kristip- I really like easter eggers, they are friendly most of the time and they also are OK layers, even though some don't lay as often as production hens. I'm dont really have experience with many breeds, So I'm not much help.

Went out to feed the horse and donkeys today and found out that the donkeys have taken to eating wood. Any ideas on stopping this? The wooden post holding their shelter up is almost done for at this point.

Oh my gosh- I am soooooo nervous. It is only day 18... I heard little tapping noises, and just now I saw it moving!!!! And the boys DS9 and DS8 happened to come downstairs just a few minutes ago. Normally I would have been mad and sent them right back upstairs, but I am so happy they did. They are beaming. I am just hoping that it will be ok being that it is so early.
So- how long will it take to come out?

Partridge rocks are good egg layers and very pretty

Best egg layer I have ever had are Road Island Reds, They lay a long time and are very healthy. Mine regularly lay till they are about 6 and go broody once or twice a year at the most.(Some exceptions..I have has some that never have done a hard broody) I have a new strain to add to mine that just hatched on the 1st. Nice line.

They are looking for someone to talk to them..you can peep back at them They are on time..they talk to mom and siblings while in the egg..You do not have to turn them now..they will start getting ready to hatch.

two days sometimes after the exterior pip...

Congratulations!..they pip a hole and breath, getting there lungs strong..they use the time to absorb the yolk..
