Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi everyone! Been busy here. Can't wait to hear about al the hatches and see photos. My little peeers are all doing good. I agree..mine our in the house.
I had ordered more. I was not thinking straight...all caught up in the excitement of chicks...now with this awful cold weather..I'm worried. They shipped out last night...they still haven't even arrived at our distribution post office. I called them and said I'd drive to get them if they come in tonight.
So let's hope I just didn't sentence poor little chick to their death by freezing to death. Horrible to even think about.

On a better note....love hearing everyones chickencoop ideas. I built some dog house type ones for my 6 chickens...but this summer I'm builing a small barn for the chickens and a place for piggie to hang out during the day in the summer.

Ohhhh, BIGZ......
Thumbing thru my Sandhill Catalog, what bean variety were you recommending?? Slenderette?

Oh how I love seed catalogs...AND I see they now have Shetland Geese!! But they only offer them in the assortments, not individually. Maybe next year.

BigZ.... yep CC found what I posted before for what you should do with the herbs. That piece of straw in there has/had tea tree oil in it. That may be what the smell is

If there is any left, add it to the garliced oil.
"I believe Cind said to use it as an ear wash for your Mr. Handsome.
"When I send you the yellow dock, make a strong tea using 1/4 cup water and the powder I send (about a tablespoon). Bring to simmer, take off heat, let stand until cool and strain. Use as wash once a day before using garlic oil drops"

BIG FIRE IN TOWN! It was on all the Milwaukee Stations! 7+ alarms. I'm sure that's why CC made the "wind" comment. BTW we're on the other side of town. What does concern me though is the wildlife preserve right next to it! Oh, I didn't mention it's an egg processing plant! They make breakfast products!

WOW, what a "crunchy" morning! Hope you all stayed safe yesterday and no more losses in the critter catagory

Not as cold up here as expected, only 7 above this morning (so far) but we won't discuss the windchill. Going to have to listen to the girls "scold" me again this morning because that windchill is going to force them to play inside for another day.

Thank you Dr. H for the phone offer, so nice of you. BTW~I couldn't put their little boots on, I haven't found anyone selling them, ...... yet.

Hubby got the bright idea to drive to town yesterday so I figured I had better go along. "roads won't be that bad. I need to get the stuff to fix that tractor tire" bad idea, very bad. Made it there and home ok primarily I think because us and the plows were the only ones on the road! One good thing tho (this is for the ladies only) we stopped at JC Liquidators and found the cutest pair of chicken and roo shelf sitters and best deal, they were 30% off! they look perfect on top of our new gun safe. Not going to try to explain, as soon as I wake up more I'll post a pic.

Denisemhogan~hope your new fuzzybutts arrive ok. let us know!

Well I need to grab a cuppa now, get suited up and go check on the girls before the wind picks up any more.

Come on people!!!! Us dreamers need to see lots of peeper pics and little fuzzy butts!!!

Good morning everyone!! Well I woke up to two pips this morning. One is a teeny tiny hole and pushed up shell. The other one I can see bits of shell on the mesh, but it is on the underside of the egg so I can't see the hole, but the chick is chirping away. The kids were very surprised and excited.
Hope you all have a great day, stay warm

Good Morning Everybody! Cindy L was laughing when she heard that song. Said that IS you!

That fire was on ch 9 this morning. Jim if you want that roo and Cindy is willing to house it for a short while Laura is making a trip [she just said soon] we could get it this far. It's up to you. Think I would have put the feed in the Ollie bucket, but I'm lazy. I watched and waited all day for the snow to quit. Wanted to plow yesterday because it was supposed to drop 20* and the wind was supposed to be about the same. Went out around 3 and plowed 6-7" out of the drive and did Donny's again too. Finished Donny's with the lights on it was

I built a brooder the same size as yours and used old fridge shelves for the top like Bl4 said "keeps the cats out". Speaking of which they were fascinated by the snow fall yesterday. Kissy was in the picture window and I was waiting for Toby to join her for a 2 black cats in a snowstorm pic but it didn't happen. Dave think you should have taken her up on her offer.

Mugs good to hear from you!

Bigz bet the mail lady was glad to end her route.

CasieD hope the remainder of your eggs are all fertile! JJ 28 watt bulb? Would like to hear more on that. Have to go through the pork, chicken, and veggie freezer today what a mess, I can't find any pig chops.

Have a hen laying thin shelled eggs, have had a cracked shell 3 days in a row. Would have gotten 4 yesterday.
