Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Celtic...Happy Birthday!!! Hope it was fantastic and wonderful and you were spoiled. Go get a few new chicks for us!

Hollyhocks... remember my aunt always grew them with her snap dragons. Are they ok to have with pets? Or is it Gladiolas I am thinking of. So much to think about. So many ideas for the gardens and so little time and money.
Need to order some seeds...thanks for the suggestions Jim!

Next to figure out my work situation...sigh..

Actually we hung the bars of ivory soap in the orchard...I'm not so sure how well they worked...but I was amazed at how long they lasted out there...I want to say like 2years? The princess thinks all bars of soap are hers to mutilate in thetub. Makes me think of a funny story...She was in the tub..and my 15 yr old (who haa challenges) says..."what are you doing?"to her. The 6yr old replies "I'm making you a potion so your brain will work right"....and my 15 yr old says.."I'm not drinking that soapy water". ...enough said. Its now a family joke...when we have to consider changing the 15yr olds medication I always now say..."well...if it doesn't work we always have the soapy potion".

Here ya go UnkaDan,, are you old enough to lift your leg ?? follow your dog and go on everything vertical.. I am not LOL,, but inside I am holding back.. what a picture this conjures up..

hair clippings are supposed to deter deer from eating your apple trees.. and I think there is something about a bar of soap hung in a bag ,, but I do not recall what it was supposed to do.

awww come on Jim,,you are old enough to lift your leg,,,,quit squattin'

the soap on the rope is so you don't bend over when you drop the soap,,,,of course if you are still squatting,,,,(another picture)

Well- I decided to move the babies. They all have a white spot on the tip of their beak. Normal?
Here are some pics of the sweeties:

Weird markings. The one second from the right has a small black spot on her back.

Nap time!

You boys!

Thank you, Kristi! Nah, it was actually pretty quiet & boring, but that's ok. At least DH remembered to get me a card this year. Whoo-hoo!

I'm still trying to talk him into getting me another bator.

My chickens love eating my hollyhocks.

Judge, sweet chickie pics! I'd give the rest of the eggs at least until day 24, unless Jim says otherwise.

PM me your addy if you would like some hollyhock seeds. Or I can bring them to the bash.

Super cute! How can we not b spring crazy with baby chicks and talk aout seeds and flowers. I've been to busy spending my money on chicks...haven't even cracked the seed catalogue yet....My 6yr old takes them in the bathroom and goes through and intials everything she wants like the oy catalogue at christmas...its funny.

I thought about asking people to let us know if the "marking o territory" trick worked for them...but I suppose at the get togethers you boys would be getting a lot of fuuny looks... ;-)

I for once agree with CC.. give them the benefit of the doubt.. a couple of days won't hurt..

as long as you have opened the bator,, take the remaining eggs and put them one by one into a cup of very warm water.. (not boiling) .. If there is life within,, the egg will bob around and you will have no doubt if there is a chick inside.. also if the egg sinks to the bottom, there is prolly a chick in it,, but it might be dead..

I didn't know the egg tooth fell off.. I guess I never gave it any thought..

Dan, be careful of that headshaking..
and you should be ashamed of yourself,, picking on a helpless old man..
