Bl4. Come on over...I have plenty of garden and, need help with the planting and weeding part.

So we survived ds6 first wrestling match. Was a lot longer than I figured and was a long day but lots of fun.
Hoping to see carol tomorrow and plan my garden and my chick hatching for me and my friend and carol.

Evening Everyone. Good job with quality furs mazo. Hate to get a lousy price after all the time and effort trappers put in.

Still praying for your Dad Doc. Hope he has many more good times with loved ones.

Time to till up the back yard for extra growing space bl4....more fun weeding and harvesting than cutting useless lawn.

I agree with you H&R about the sunnyside reds...the special blacks are BA and another breed. The prices can't be beat and the stress involved with shipping is minimal. Like I've said in the past...most local folks get their meaties there...year after year for good reason.

How about a woman (danica) winning the starting pole for Datona 500. first time ever....you go girl!

Tonight for supper is cut up whole chicken with cajun spice cooked on a rack in the oven with a big cast iron roaster of skillet potatoes. They can be made a number of ways...tonight it was with celery, carrots, onions and chicken broth.....delish.

Alittle more than 3 months and it's here...The Bash...It's ON...

Stay Safe, Have Fun... bigz

VIcki, I am the odd man out when it comes to butchering type chickens.. I prefer the pullets..true, they do not get as big as the roosters, .but for whole chickens in the freezer,, I like pullets because they fit into the freezer bags better,, they don't have those loooong legs to contend with..
for cut-up chickens, I have no preference.. It might be just me,, but I think that the pullets are more tender ..

furthermore,, we don't require a large bird for a meal around here..

I would like to order some meaties and butcher them when they are small.. so each person at the table can have their own bird.. I would like to try that for Thanksgiving for something different..

I had an idea today.. I might temporarily add a couple of 2 x 4's to the forks of the tractor to make them 8 feet long.. then I could make the 6 sections of the new pen up here in the yard, and haul them down for assembly in 8 ft x 11 ft sections.. yeah, that's the ticket !!

a little warm (er) weather would be a big plus..

BL4, Kristi beat me to the punch.. You could plant your garden here,, I have lots of room..
I don't mind getting the ground ready and planting,, but weeding and harvesting don't interest me at all.. I don't mind running the tiller down the rows.. it is just that nit-picky weeding that kills me..

Bl4, SO glad your cat was eating. I sure hope the appetite stimulants kick back in and he starts drinking more for you.

And let me know how that ground cherry seed does. I tried it a couple years ago & got nuthin.

Jim & Dan, I think most handy do-it-yourselfer guys know how it is to not have help on projects and have to be contortionists or "make do" with whatever they can come up with. My DH gripes about it a lot when I can't help him.

I agree, Jim, that working on darn near anything doesn't happen with gloves on.

Boy, you guys sure have been getting optimistic with your additions to the 2 second drill. Now Jim has it all the way up to 3 minutes!

JJ, I have a few heat lamps running 24/7 here too. Not quite sure if I don't have a few psycho hens, though.

Sorry, Vicki.

DrH, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I too am praying for a quick recovery & many more years of health and happiness.

Judge, just be very careful that straw doesn't get damp & moldy. I use pine shavings since they dry faster and an upside down ceramic crock to put the waterer on. Much sturdier & less likely to be knocked over.

Right Bigz!

I kinda thought he'd have done better in the time trials, but they do have new cars, again! The learning process starts all over again.

Nothing new here other than brrrrrrr cold. The sun did help make it more tolerable, though. The girls must be liking it too. They gave us 8 eggs the past 2 days in a row, so that was nice. Now if it will just start warming up! I made HM chicken noodle soup for dinner too. Yumm! Sweet dreams, all!

Hi All!

WCc..... hope the job gets better.

Bbp.... That sucks that people would leave their carcasses like that. Yes, let the wild beasts have them... but not where people are going to find them.

TO... Wow! Thanks for the offer! I'll see if Young Son has a day off soon and see if he could help. He "took off" today because he was sick. He's like me, don't take off much, but when we call in sick, We're SICK! We also shut down when we're sick, sleep it off!

Jim (and the rest of you "boys").... LOL try being 5' nothing and holding pieces together while building! Clamps (a few kinds) were one of the first things I bought! I would love one of those work tables with clamps that you can change positions on! I think Sears caries one I liked. Found a nice corner clamp set at a rummage sale, brought them home and DH couldn't figure out what they were (sigh).
Yea, I know turkeys can "hold" for a long time.... It just doesn't seem like that tom quite "gets it" or maybe the hens don't want him. I haven't seem them get ready for him either.

vicki.... spoiled chickens again! Hope mine don't hear about that! LOL.... Hope that chicken thief gets caught! .... Love the poster!

Bl4 ... hope you can get all that in your garden!

kristi.... My oldest was in wrestling for may years. Even made regionals! He wrestled in "heavy weight" and got beat out by a 6'7" kid that had 40lbs on him! I almost ran out to stop the match when I saw who they matched him up with! The other boys never cared for it. Hope he has fun!

Nothing else here either.... night all!

good AM got up at 5:30 started a potto and went back to bed.. couldn't get back to sleep so I got up at 6.. I tried the "Aroma" setting on the coffee pot.. it took a half hour to brew.. I cannot taste any difference..

chomping on the bit to get started.. have to go to F&F to get a couple of shorter pipes for the pipe clamps..

Yeah Cind.. I was a short contractor.. I hired a guy who is 6 ft 10 inches.. he could set floor joists in place standing flatfooted on the basement floor..

I have high hopes of getting something done today.. I hope all goes well..

One of my baby peahens died yesterday.. have one left.. I have two adult hens , too..

IDK if I am going to pen up both peacocks with the two hens.. I think just one should be enough.
then ,, which one gets the honor ? the old boy, or the first year boy ? talk about shy breeders,, I have never seen the peacocks in action.. it seems they are always just showing off..
