Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Where is a good place to ge the powdered boric acid?
I used to use it all the time for any animals that had "gunk" in their eyes. Mixed with water. Even used it for my DD pink eye on recommendation of the dr. I just found it at the drug store at that time. It came in a little tin (I'm sure now plastic) container.

does anyone want some Coturnix Quail eggs to hatch? They are almost impossible to mistreat enough to have them not hatch. The chicks are adorable and the hens lay almost every day. I have 5 hens and am getting about 4 eggs a day. They would be free to anyone who wanted to give them a try.

17 days to hatch for the impatient bator manager.

Mailing them could not be that expensive either.

Sunny Afternoon All....tough loss for you Amy, I'm saving a hug for you at the bash if you make it. Sure was a beautiful dog. Hope you can find another. me and Suzie often talk about getting a Shepard.

BTW~you guys kind of lost me talkin' about milk can strainers. I've got one but doesn't sound like anything you guys have. Mine is designed where the bottom slides just inside the mouth of the can and the top is like a REALLY wide funnel and there is a heavy mesh screen inside. Although in great shape, I do think mine is probably a real antique tho. I use mine for drying small garden seeds.

the one I was referring to is a metal funnel-like device with a slotted bottom.. It has a small dome like slotted plug that fits into the bottom recess... You put the filter pad across the slotted hole and press the slotted plug down on it forcing it into the hole and holding it there ..

I would think that if you heated up the syrup, it would run through the filter much freer ..

I suppose if you held the whole thing upside down, it would resemble a bell..

you might be thinking of a filter sock for pipeline milkers..

ETA, the one that Vicki has is what I was trying to describe.. maybe a couple of pictures Vic ??

they are antique age, vintage,, but not rare.. count the farms all over the country .. each farm had at least one,, i knew of a farmer that had 4 of them..

there might be a smaller version for goat farmers.. ??

OO OO Me lol. I would love to get some quail eggs. My DH has been wanting some but I havent wanted to buy 30 . Plus I can use them for my 4-H'rs incubating project. Pretty Please ;)

I went to Ebay and found dairy milk strainer.. there is a good picture of one,, It is priced at $99.oo a very ambitious price IMHO.. try Craig's list.. there are thousands of them laying around not being used..

come to think of it, I"ll bet the Amish farmers still use them..
