Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Welcome Cuties and sdelfe........... a great bunch here and always wiling to help, I expect many offer's of chicks to come through today hehe lots of chicken enablers on this thread too, me included hehehe.......
anyway I'm up here in NE Wi. just south of Shawno, near Nichols, I will be hatching chicks, come March or April depends on the weather I may even have a few hens to sell after I sort out my EE's and 2 year olds......... so if your in the neighborhood, feel free to come visit and check out some possible chicks........

BL4....Hows that runt this morning ? hope he is feeling better at the vets....... vet,s sometimes can work miracles, praying for one for you.....
DRHa.... Still sending prayers for dads quick recovery and future health, the docs maybe can't operate, but if ya wanna try to ease his systems maybe you could try, hawthorn berry its a mild heart medicine, coq10 might also help, and it really would not be too much trouble to have him seen by a natural therapist, there is always that option it may not solve the issue but could help with the symptoms and possible pain

Jim where you at? I haven't see you in a few posts, are you freezing your keester off working on that pen in this nasty cold weather?? hehe anyway I have a question for you seeing that you are a building guroo also, I have a once beautiful square coffee table, that's been sitting in my basement for 15 years, my 1 dog chewed the wicker outa the bottom, but now its seems are coming apart due to sitting and drying.... its solid oak, and cost me alot of bucks back in 1990....... I was always gonna fix it but never got it done along with 6 zillion other projects around here..... so is it ruined now? should I tear it apart and keep the oak, or is it still fixable, I have to say I really loved this table once and in all these years haven't found 1 of like quality...... let me know if its possible to salvage this.. also had an idea for a hatcher/ incubator, its a small cabinet foam insulated was a worm raising bed for years that is also sitting in my basement forever, could this be made into a hatcher for chicks?

Well the new tenants moved in some bed frames and a livingroom set last night, god I sure hope this isn't the end of a good friendship..... but I just couldn't say no they need the help...... I hear ya CIND AND TerriO, and I ALREADY SET SOME ground rules with them and there naughty children..... alittle worried about all these dogs, but we will manage.... so its off to finish my basement so they can bring more later today before the snow starts............ take care all and drive safe if heading somewhere tonight mother nature appears to be going on the war path again...... later Kim

I am back/still here..

Kim, I cannot say about your table without seeing it.. what you describe does not sound good.. However, If the top is not warped or cracked , maybe you can remove the rest of the wicker so that the missing part is not obvious..

I hope you told your star borders that they will pay for any livestock their dogs destroy.. I hope those St Bernards are outside dogs..  My bil had one.. It sh!t like a cow..

sdelfe,  I am North West of Wausau..  and there are a couple more of us not far from you.. Are you right in the city of Mosinee ?  my wife works in Mosinee a couple days a week..

there is a place near Mosinee that sells chickens..  I will PM you about that..

.......jiminwisc..........

LOL sh!t like a cow indeed they do.... they are both about 125 lbs, females 10 years old, so getting to there end of days, and they are inside dogs!!!!!!! they should be outside dogs seeing they are made for the cold like our Maremmas, but she couldn't bear to have them out in the summer heat, so they have always been inside, where the temps are regulated.... she does have large kennels for them inside and a 6 x 10 for outside she will be bringing along........... I didn't even think to say anything about the chickens/livestock, because they are inside dogs, but I guess I should just in case they get loose...........OMG I'll be so mad if they eat any of my chickens.....
anyway on the table I will bring it up here shortly clean it up and take some pictures, then maybe you can get a better handle on what it might take to fix or trash it.... I have wanted to replace the wicker completely with a fancy scrolled or birds eye wood, even a butcher block style with2 different colored woods, but I have little to no word working tools and no money to pay a wood worker to do it, so I have to do it myself....Ty much Kim

Ok I'm back with some pictures.... anyway it does not appear to be warped in anyway or twisted, just banged up and the corners to me seem to be coming apart..I have always kept it flat on its legs or top no matter where I stored it, and its older than even I thought It was bout in 1985.......LOL so I been dragging around ever since 88 when my WGS was a puppy, you can see on one side she even has a few gnaw marks on the wood but that is easy enough to fix, and boy is this thing heavy !! I had all I could do to carry it up here I bet it weights 80lbs... so here it is........ any suggestions on fixing the bottom and taking out the wicker would be appreciated anyone so comment away.......

If your not picky and just want to get some chicks for your daughter Chick Days start next week at Tractor Supply. According to their site the chicks are set to ship 2/25 . You could call a tractor supply to see when they plan them to be there.
Or hens and Roos could tell us where the next chicken class with the hubby is. They usually have chicks for sale.

Apyl- Postal service says your eggs should arrive tomorrow. Be on the lookout and try not to leave them in the mail box too long. Quail eggs are pretty hardy, but why press your luck.

Ok lovely friends... as we are talking about enabling

I mentioned before that I got a friend hooked ( ok her mom has some down in AZ) but I talked her into building a coop up here. She wants to start with about 10 birds and likes variety. I am hatching on Easter for her and have a few breeds, anyone somewhat local want to donate some good layer eggs to a newbie for some variety(or I can shell out a few bucks)?
I can provide:
bantam silkies and duccle
Jaerhan and marans muts from Carol
JJ said he may have some olive eggers for me...
I may be buying a few polish eggs from a local source.

looking for large fowl layers!
thanks gang
