Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The turner trays I am using the egg positioners in have mesh bottoms, so if positioners do soften a bit, it shouldn't matter as they can't fall through the racks. The pheasant racks that came with them trays are rigid and stackable. There is a small gap between the two inserts - I basically broke apart a 6 pack egg carton into 2 1x3's and put between them, fit perfectly. He had what looked like a strip of quail/pheasant cardboard egg crate in there. I threw it away when I was cleaning, didn't want to risk buggies hanging out in it. When it warms up enough that I wouldn't freeze doing it, I'll probably make some inserts that will be easier to clean/won't take on as much moisture.

Working my way through Jim's protocol, up to humidity adjustment in the incubator, hatcher is still drying out at 103.

interesting story with that moose crash, the woman was driving a Subaru, drove right between the front and hide legs, when the body impacted the car it was at the top of the windshield, the moose then rolled over the top of the vehicle. It died instantly, 3 ribs were broken at the spine we figure it severed the spine. No flopping or suffering,,,also no wasted meat. Pretty big, the quarters must have all been over 100lbs, lots of roasts,,,lots of steaks,,,lots of meat for grinding. That was a 1st for all involved, one of his son's lives in AK, he called while we were processing,,,,couldn't believe it,,,lol

bbl time to feed the girlz

She called me..she is coming tomorrow...I am so relieved..

Here are a few pictures of Ann's Basques from Green Fire Farms I picked up for her..very nice birds

Very sweet and friendly..they love to eat!!

I had a big hunk of snow hanging off the garage roof.. I knocked it down yesterday.. there was a lot of snow still up there.. today the sun warmed the roof enough so all the snow slid off at once.. I don't think any birds got buried.. I heard it let go.. the pup must have been close by because he barked and came running to where I was .,, all scared.. I laughed at him, and then he was embarrassed..

where I was, was working on the peacock pen.. I got quite a bit done.. working alone is really slow going..

I took a few pictures.. IDK how they turned out.. will find out when I post them, I guess..

the picture above is of the unfinished doorway .. sorry, the trees in the background do not make a good back drop..

the picture below is the doorway framed in.. the doorway ties the two sections together..

that Dewalt drill on the ladder is one of them that my nephew gave to me..

the snow slid off of the house roof also.. it is piled up over the window sills of the sun room.

I had a couple more photos, but they are taking forever to upload..

I better submit this before I lose it..

Hope you don't find a buried bird in another month Jim. The other day I was at the thrift store with Cartman (his real name is Logan, for those unaware that DrH is responsible for the Cartman moniker.) There were big snow cliffs hanging off the edge of the roof; I kept Cartman to the inside just in case one decided to let go.

Oh, BigFam, I don't often have my mind in the gutter, but when I do I owe it to you.

Hey Unk, are we gonna be treated to moose at the Bash???

Thanks for all the congrats. Terri, who knows what the little peanut is. Everyone and I mean everyone wants a girl. There hasn't been a girl born on my side of the family for 17 years! 7 boys in a row. This one has me bloated already, and carrying high, but I carried Logan high too.

We could start a baby pool at the Bash.

I just started setting eggs aside for the Easter hatch. At TSC last night Julie, to my amazement, resisted the Runner ducklings and will hold out for the Pekins she wants so badly. Never seen her show such restraint!

Evening All...Congrats on the new addition coming your way Amy. What do you have picked out for names? I'd pick out a bunch of girl names just to be sure!

Sure was nice to see the sunshine today. makes everyone feel a little better someway.

Scalloped potatoes with bear sausage tonight, with fresh ho-made buns....heaven.
