Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Great... apparently someone had too much to drink at the winery or the Arboretum bar because someone hit a power pole. We have no power. No lights no heat no power to incubators.I can't make birthday supper for Harrison.( He turns 7 today).so it might be birthday cake for supper. I have no idea how long it takes to get a power pole fixed. But my hubby is sweating it because the back shed and parking lot are floooooded. He had 3 sump pumps trying to empty it before it turns to ice. It was 9 inches of standing water this morning.with no power we are in big trouble back there.

Luckily the kid with the squirts still just does it into a diaper or we'd be in trouble. Praying the last 3 of us don't get the sickness tonight...

Hi all....tough about the power BigFam! I am glad that we have propane. At least we can still cook! Could fire up the wood burner if we were cold...and shoot--we have enough rain coming down to get water!

Will it ever STOP? My milk house coop has water running out of the door and one of the bachelor pads is 4" deep on the floor! The ice is dammed up at the doors so the water cant get out. I am hoping that all wont freeze again tonight...I just hate falling flat on my back doing chores!
Dan was it you that ordered new boots? WHat did you get? I am looking at the Muck Co chore boot and the Irish Setter Chore boot (by Redwing) That one seems to fit a little better but isnt as tall. F&F has both but at $99 I really hope they go one sale! (soon)

I made some delicious chicken and dumplings (Southern style) for dinner out of that rooster I had to butcher (and had in the crock pot for 24 hours!) It was D-licious! I had 3 bowls and so did DH (the one that doesnt like chicken soup) He kept calling it soup...OK. It tasted just like my Granny's chicken and noodles. I think the Southern folks are confused between dumplings and noodles myself!

Guess I oughta head out and check on the stock.

I love my hatcher already. Got all kinds of cheeps coming from it today. Peeked in with a flashlight, can see at least 7 chicks in the one rack (can't see the other rack). At least 2 of the chicks are silver penciled, 2 are birchen, the others were too far back to tell, but hey, 2 more SPs! (The goal of this batch is to increase my SP genes birds in the flock, so woop!)

Next time, drop the trays down a level, check. Then I can see them both, more or less. :)

"Dan was it you that ordered new boots? WHat did you get?"

yep Terri I got the Jobber boot, I have had a pair for 6? years finally blew out one of them, I really like them, good fit, easy to wipe off or scape off (better word), I use mine all year here, when it's wet in the summer and all winter (I have heavy duty boots for deep snow or super cold) step in, kick off for chores they are great. Good luck on the sale, I wear a standard size and those are NEVER on sale,,,,lol

Just dug out my old styro incubator, think I will use that as a hatcher for these OEs since my timing is a little off with the Chanteclers I am getting next weekend,,,,I will set some BCMs at the same time...this sportsman could get me in trouble,,,heh heh

where is Dr H ?

I have to go out and close up the birds yet..

bator #1 is all settled in at 99F and 43% hum%.. I had to open 4 vent holes to get the hum% down.. Now I am waiting for the trays to turn.. I can turn them manually, but I haven't noticed them turn on auto..

a guy just a couple of miles from me has goose eggs for sale.. African or Pilgrim .. they are on C List for $2.oo each.. he says the ones in his incubator are fertile.. he has 20 of them..

did anybody here check into that bator from Milwaukee C List ? that was a real good buy ..

I have been on here so much today,, I ran out of anything to say..
