Those are the new breed of chickens Terri wants to make her famous FEET soup!!

Yes JJ that is "our own" Twain...DH of MLH that used to come on and chat with us every once in a while...MLH--we miss you! It's almost riding season...that comes right after MUD season ya know! Pop in...even just to say hi, same old, same old!

Goaties are doing great! They are starting to bounce around now. I love when they do that. I have one ewe and one doe to go and then they are done. I will be glad, than I dont have to worry about them having them and then the babies falling into the water tank.

Kids want to make some cookies....I guess I better help!

(PS) I think those chickens look like they have a bad case of scaly leg mites! What ARE they Deli?
Our goats aren't due to deliver until April. Getting VERY impatient. Love little goaties!

Chicks started hatching yesterday morning, so I snatched out these chicks from the hatcher tonight, 9 birchen, 8 silver penciled Iowa Blues so far. 7 eggs still in there, a couple pipped and active, so I quick closed the hatcher to let the rest of them go on to hatch if able. Love that incubator, right back up to humidity and temp almost instantly. :) If not another one hatches, I'll still be tickled with the hatch. Whoopie! 8 more SPs to grow up and some more birchens with some different genes to cross in to my birchens.

Looks like the new hatcher and incubator are going to be just what I needed.

Big thanks to Jim for the set up instructions. It's working like a dream.

Ann,

I am glad you're home safe with your new bird..they are so sweet..you will really love them..
I sure hope my eggs in the bator are fertile from them. I have two from the hen and two from the pullet.:fl
I left your eggs in my car..:he

Crud! I forgot about them too. Too excited to get them home. Sure glad the roads didn't get slippery on the way. Guess we'll have to figure out another meet up.

Are you going or do you need anything from the swap in Beaver Dam this Sunday? It's early, but we plan to browse. Never know what the kid will decide he needs next. At least we know it won't be a rabbit.

By the way thanks so much for taking such good care of our new little beauties! They ARE so sweet. The little pullet climbed right out into my arms both when I took them out to put into a pen and when I took them from the pen to put into a coop. The hen walked out and waited to be picked up. Rooster just stood there like come on come on I got things to do.

I clipped that zip tie off the hens leg. It was so tight it left a deep ring around her leg. So glad I got it done too, it looked sore. Both girls were checking out the nest box, so hopefully lots more eggs. I'm trading some of my midget eggs for some more Basque eggs to increase their line and spread out the genetics. They are very pretty birds.

I also had a naughty SLW going around trying to pull feathers from the other girls. I took her and put her through the nest box in Black Foots coop. He grabbed her and pulled her through, held her down, did his thing, popped out the nest box door and crowed at me. I think it was a thank you. He's collecting a harem one lady at a time. I ruffled his hackles and he went right back in. He is so funny. Definitely want to pass on those genetics!

Hmmm, maybe I should take T or T up to Beaver Dam this weekend.

They'd love to see it ...well, presuming it isn't like it was last year, cold, rainy, brrrr.
