Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh wow- I really need to learn to go to bed at night! Went to bed at 1:30 and up at 6. Usually I can handle it, but I cannot keep my eyes open this morning.
Temps/humidity are doing great, so I am breathing a little easier for now.
Need some advice on the water that is standing in the chicken run. The problem is that my little pony lives/sleeps on the one side of the run, and it has 6in of standing water in it. The goats sleep under the coop and it is not too wet under there, so I just put down more straw for them. We have added a fence since this pic, so we keep the doors of the run open and the chickens free range inside and outside the fence. I walked the pony up to the machine shed where it is dry, but I am worried that he will be lonely with no companions. Anyone have any suggestions on how to dry out the run, and anything I can do to keep it that way?

The pony sleeps on the right. The goats sleep underneath

The chicks are doing great- almost 6 weeks now. I'll have to take a picture of the one. He/she looks like a dinosaur to me!
You could put a gutter on the edge of that barn roof. That helped my problem immensely! Where your coop is all the water probably runs right off the roof and down to your coop. Of course at this time of year most places are filled with standing water/ice! I have a veritable glacier in my dooryard! I think the ice is 6" thick right now with water running over the top...can you say slippery?
The trench might work too...unless it fills and freezes! Good luck.
Oh yeah, the pony wont be that lonely for a little while!

judge, do you have boys? (sry I forget) If you do, ditching in spring is a right of passage for boys of all ages in WI it will keep them busy for hours!

just make them take their clothes off on the porch and have the dryer ready,,,,mmmm maybe the washer too

well alrighty then, the fellow showed up with the deposit,,,,hard to figure someone wants 30 olive eggers,,,

side note; that ad has now been up for 4 hours and that is the only bite I have had,,,,,go figure

so what I see here is Dan telling us he wants to take off all his clothes and go play outside in the mud.

Me too Dan!

John... I'm not actually very worried about the eggs. Power was out for about an hr and a half. I don't think they're going to up and quit on that. While the temps didn't stay where they should, the styrofoam does hold heat decently.

As to the power pole assailant, I swear it was a guy with reddish hair and a bunch of traps in the back of the truck. Huh.... Sounds like Mazo. Whoever it was also took out our phone line for almost 24 hrs...

Littlest child is still sick. No early childhood today, and he's not going tomorrow either. Jeepers it's been a week and 2 days that someone has been home sick. Enough already.

I better sleep now (or try to) got the 3 yr old in bed hereand he flips around so much he ends up sideways taking up the whole queen size bed and I'm clinging for dear life on the edge!
Funny, although I cant hear anything you say with this beautiful new fox hat that arrived in the mail yesterday. The flaps act as ear muffs, something I think many should have around you when you get blabbing! lol

k have to finish reading and back to work!

But seriously? You have no room for them anywhere else?

If you post it, they will come - tada, the first duck egg!

The darling hen laid it on the edge of the semi-frozen slushy creek-turned-river, had to wade out almost knee deep to retrieve it. I'd like to pop it in the bator, but it's kinda small.

Bring up the entire grade with gravel, or the fill of your choice. Then slope it where you want the water to go. Easy to mow grass that way...or pour a concrete slab.
