Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good morning to all. I cant believe the snow that is coming down! It wasnt snowing when I first got up (7AM) now we must have 2" out there and it is coming down gangbusters! PLEASE, can winter just end already?

I tried the "multiquote" thingy today...it kept 2 posts not all 5 that I wanted...maybe it is sleepy?

Zeke--I hope your chicks come late enough that you can keep them outdoors! We ordered 50 one time (or maybe it was only 25?) kept them in our 3 season porch...the dust was an inch thick before we got the outside! You would think that I would have learned from that experience? Nah---I had chicks in my basement storage room...I have no idea HOW that chicken dust got through the door and walls to cover the entire basement in dust!

DrH you are treading on thin ice with that comment! What if FM is lurking??? HUH?! Ya know, that is why she got so mad in the first place...STIR, STIR, STIR!
Here is what a Welsummer hen looks like- this one was taken in fall when she was molting

Funny about the Wellie Han. When my tester came he wrote down "Brown Leghorn" on the paper. He had never seen a Wellie! That was the bird I got the trophies for my first year...you wouldnt believe how MANY there were the next year in the show! LOL--and my Modern Game took it!

So now I am anxiously awaiting the show to see if it holds true again and all the cages will be filled with Modern Games?

I would really like to get some standard sized ones. Any body have a lead on them? My little birchen banty is so adorable...he jumps up on my hand when I go in there!

I guess it's not going to stop snowing...the critters probably want to go out...man, did I say I was sick of winter?
Have a good one! TerriOfeelinglikebakingsomething

ETA for Cuties: I have your regular Coturnix in boring brown and Bobwhites also in the wild color, also small. I dont think I will be much help to your DH. There is a kid that sells them here in WI though. I think he is Quailboy or Quaillover on here? Looks like he has nice birds

yep- waiting for spring to get here already!

We probably have 2 inches so far and big flakes are still coming down. Not sure if it will warm up enough today to help melt any

Sorry to hear about the cat- never easy, especially with kids.

Well DS(7) is now the proud caretaker of this little guy(of course with the help of me and his sister):

the green in his ear and on his fur is from his number being put in his ear. We picked him up yesterday, he is 8 weeks old. DS(7) is still figuring out a good name. DS(7) will be learning how to take care of him and get use to handling him.

good morning folks, NOT snowing YET in the north country, keep it down south you need the moisture

had a nice road trip yesterday, driving along with the stench of corned beef and cabbage filling the pristine air of north eastern WI (I'm Irish, just not a fan of that particular American Irish specialty,, give me 2 fingers of Jamison with a properly drawn Guinness draft.)

Finally got to meet Gina, my source for White Chanteclers. We had a great visit, her hubby is a very skilled carpenter and her "honey do" project lists have been well filled. She gave me the full tour of her facilities, really nice setup. From a complete "hatchery" room in the basement to her brooding area, her layer flock area, and the breeder pens in the barn. Came home with some good ideas for future projects here. Also came home with hatching eggs, they are now resting and will hit the sportsman either tonight or in the morning.

APL~ my first guess was a Cinnamon Queen. another pr but tends to be larger. My neighbor has them and they are really friendly.

No snow here yet a few dozen miles northeast of Antigo.

Opps. snowing HEAVY now.
