Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning everyone. :) Woke up to an awesome email, I won a huge prize pack that included a $100 gift card to Bass Pro :). The new batch of eggs is in the incubator thanks to Jim. Its no wonder my last hatch didnt go that well last time, but I feel good about this one. I ended up culling the duckling yestarday. I just couldnt figure out how to fix its hip, and I free range with predators so I cant have a full grown duck outside scooting around on its belly just to be eaten by an eagle. I felt horrible but I couldnt wait until it was older, it would have been so much harder. The other 3 ducklings are just spunky as can be, running back and forth in the brooder, and making a mess lol. The kids ara having a blast with them, and they have imprinted nicely to us. I'm hoping they stay friendly with us as they grow. I plan to be more hands on with these 3 and any future ducklings since DH pardoned all our ducks from being dinner. So looks like all the ducks are now pets. lol

Well I hope everyone has a great day. I'm sure I'll be pulling my hair out by mid-day since today start Spring Break for the kids.

Sounsd like most of you have spring break this week... we have it next week. Still have to work part of the week, but going to legoland for a day and mother in law is taking the kids for one day and hubby for another. Bet they play alot of video games that day..lol.

Getting anxious about these eggs. Air sacks still look big to me... here is to hoping I didnt kill these little chickies... sigh...

Congrats on that gift pack Apyl... sounds like a hubs dream.

Otherwise getting ready for a busy few days, besides potential chicks, we have a half day of school tomorrow, birthday party in the afternoon, Saturday has an easter egg hunt in the morning, then driving to Terri's to drop off a roo and to my evil siser in Oconomowoc who after meeting my kids a whole two times in their six and a half years, does not know their names. She is my only sister who is not married(div) and with no kids so she is jealous of all of my other sisters and myself. And I am the youngest and she really has it in for me. So this is my olive branch... DH is upset we have to go since she can be witchy sometimes... oh well. ANd then Sunday my in-laws are coming over for Easter, after a visit from the hoppy guy(mental note,...are all my shopping supplies in order???)

so off to my last work day until next Tuesday... later!

set the next 20 olive eggers in the hatcher, candled and 0 clears on this bunch

Gallus I was waiting for Jim to answer your question (he's old musta missed that one) I checked the 5 that didn't hatch for me, all had something going, 2 had quit early, moisture was ok, none if these had pipped at all,,,,my thoughts are it just happens and won't concern myself getting 75% is fine with me

cold last night but the sun is out again,,,,dang 2 days in a row here........snow coming on the weekend through Monday

projects to work on

Thanks Dan
My average is just that.....The reality is that my hatch rate is getting worse each time with more of these full term chicks looking fine but not pipping. This next hatch I will do a better eggtopsy and see if they even pipped on the in side....I got that idea from delish

Good morning! THe sun is shining AGAIN! I can hardly contain myself! I am going to meet a friend for coffee at ten. Our kids went too school together all their years. SH and her husband have moved to Hawaii to retire! Well, they're not retired yet but I guess they wanted to get a jump start on it since she was offered a job there! Incredible! I love looking at her pictures--it is so pretty there!

Did I mention that I missed the very dark Town Line roads last night on the way home? When I hit Hwy59 I realized that I must be West of where I wanted to be...so the drive was quite a bit longer than anticipated! Good thing I had a good story I was listening to! (and the kids were asleep) Did anyone else see that gorgeous moon last night? WOW--bright orange and HUGE!

So, HAPPY EASTER WEEK!
I have hatched some chicks! Arent they adorable?

I am officially bored. After 5 days of spring break I have everything done and I have 5 days left.
Someone save me from boredom!
OK CS---I will PM you with directions to my place...I can relieve your boredom very easily! In the process We can get some things done around here! I figure it will take just about 5 days too! Bring your sleeping bag-you can crash on the futon!
Thanks Dan

THe problem is Gallus; what are you going to do if you do find out that they did or didnt pip? That is where the problem is...there really isnt much you can do. If you do find a solution please share it! It is so disheartening to have fully developed birds in the shell--DEAD! I feel for ya...I always think I wont break the remaining eggs to see...then I do and it makes me really sad....

I better get moving--dont want to be late for coffee!
