Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just wondering....

Do you keep track of your egg production? If you do, what it the average % of eggs per day that you get from your flock as a whole?

If you keep track by age, what it the avg % you can expect to get from each age group?

Just asking.
Found a great spread sheet on line to keep track. I actually found it here on BYC. It's called Steve's Chicken Tracker and it's an excel spreadsheet that "Steve" shared with BYCers. So far I'm in the hole $164 for the month, but I got 25 eggs from the langshans Since the 8th of April at a cost of 3.53 per egg, lol. That's because I have a brooder full of chickies and two giant peking ducks that eat more food than the horses...I jest...but it is a LOT for two giant ducks, lol.

thanks Dan.

The way you say it seems less like you are wearing a tin foil hat.
I believe the politcally correct term would be a "tasteful aluminum headpiece".

Your DH sounds like mine when he is looking for his tools. "Well, where'd ya leave them last?"

Cind & Del, I know exactly what you mean about the sump pumps. For awhile, mine was kicking off every minute or less. Kinda hard to believe we had a drought for so long last summer. It must be overcompensating now.

This morning it was snowing then hailing down here. Now the wind sounds like it wants to tear the roof off. At least I didn't wake up to what Vicki did this morning. It's mid April, for crting out loud. Enough with this winter crap already!

Sandi, I think Jim is going to be getting a ton of buff orp chicks for someone & he said he might have extras? You should ask him first maybe?

Lisa, I have an 11 year old banty roo.

tsk tsk JJ we all know that with the current regime there are no new taxes ( as well as no new jobs)

I highly doubt the tax thing because on the scale most people run you would wind up with a huge loss and a deduction instead so it really wouldn't behoove them to bother with it. If your running a real chicken business your already paying taxes so...
I think there is a huge push nationwide to track livestock better so they can trace infectious diseases to their source when an outbreak happens. Anyway, I am not going to worry myself about it. I don't think $40 is outrageous and the livestock registration ID is free. I'm not planning on getting rich with chickens.

Hello all,
I am looking for Muscovy duck breeders in Southeastern Wisconsin that has breed adults available. If you have any or know anyone let me know.

Thanks, Lisa! I started using a spreadsheet to track and I wanted to see if anyone else tracked them, if it was helpful, and if it gave them good data on the number of eggs produced. How long have you been tracking them? What is your production %??

I don't have enough data yet to be very accurate but for the YTD (since last month) I have 51%. For this month only 44% so far.

I have a couple customers that take 4 dozen a week. What do these people do with that many eggs? I really don't care, as long as they buy them, but still? Unless your the Duggers, how many eggs can you really go through. Must have omlets every day. Just sayin'
