I thknk its because they want to open and check a lot ;-) that would be my issue! Hubby would have to gaurd ours with a ruler in his hand to slap my knuckles! Lol

My friend thinks it will peel off foam when he takes it off.....I would use it.... but I don't have to .........my Genesis fits tight and holds temp like a champ

Happy Friday Everyone!

Psychopeep. ~~ FYI after a little over a year into this chicken adventure you can be VERY sure that these sweet little creatures are a bit messy and EXTREMELY ADICTIVE! I thought I was happy with 8. 1 straight run later, I am up to 30 and a new coop being built. Hopefully I will be able to post picts of the coop progress later. Hubby grummbles, but likes to build; although his carpentry skills make me a bit nervous, what ever he builds usually ends up quite sturdy LOL ~~

Now about my little teenage peeps. Hope to post picts of them too!! Hard to get all 22 of them to cooperate! I think I have about half and half roo's to hens... fingers crossed. I know there are at least 4 roos. I am sure there are more, but I just am inexperienced;-)
They are just about 6 weeks old and almost done with their first bag of chick starter. Do I get more starter??? or what should I feed them now? Should I be giving them scratch at a certain point? I have put in some veggies, they seem to ignore them at all costs other than to play with them.

Any thoughts on how many roos? I know the picts are not the best...;-( Some of the marans have feathered legs and I don't see any of the normal copper coloring coming.. yet.....

Oh I check in the incubator all the time. That d@mn duck tape gets in the way! (Don't ask me how my hatch is going either... ).

Today is Friday. This is my first Friday off since Feb!!! It's pajama/snuggle day with Halden. I didn't realize how much I missed while working the schedule I was working. Ive had coffee with a friend twice this week, met another and took the dogs to the dog park, volunteered in my sons class twice ths week, and took them to Ironman 3 last night. I was also around for all therapy sessions and meetings. It's been a good week! Other than one of the therapists quitting. (That leaves 1...!)

Also, my aunt died unexpectedly last weekend. My Dad was pretty surprised because she was only 64. But aneurysms run in the family and that's what happened in her sleep. I'm not going to the viewing though because that would be 2 hrs drive there, 5 kids in a Funeral parlor for an hr, (no recption) then 2 hrs home. My dad understands. I went over to his house last weekend and we did some mourning South Milwaukee style, stiff drinks with some toasts to the deceased. I feel bad that my dad and his siblings are estranged. He's facing his own mortality a bit this week.

Nope. But have fun. We are going up UnkaDan's way to our trailer at a campground in Tomahawk. Gonna be a chilly Saturday night. Down to 25 degrees. Brrr. Better have a roaring campfire!
