Good Sunny Brr Morning! Looks like wood fire going right into AC weather. JJ sorry to hear about your Aunt! cuties cool about the chix! Congrats on the big win! Toby is playing fetch right now. Just caught a glimse of something in the tree line smaller than a yote maybe a coon or huge bunny. Cool about goosers Jim! Sounds like psyco will thin the herd a bit. Glad your feeling a little better Cind! I'm getting tired of being busy than H! I need a vaca from retirement. Got the boat in the garage and the tank and motor in place. Must be something going around had a bad valve stem on the trailer. Gotta load some books and mags in L's car. Later!

JJ- so sorry to hear about your aunt
Jim- cool about the goose eggs.
Cuties- sweet pictures
BigFam/JJ- I am addicted to the Waltons. I think I have most every episode on DVR.

So- who has a better idea than me for keeping my little goats inside the fence? They didn't care one bit that they were getting shocked. They just plowed through it, fainted, and then ran off. I am sure they were laughing inside. I put them back in, and the same thing. By the the third time I was practically in tears and said forget it and put them back with the chickens. The pony did great though. Never tried it. The goats were on my MIL's deck the other day eating the new flowers she bought, and she was not happy...
ANy suggestions anyone?
Oh- and does anyone have any bantam chicks (not silkies) or hatching eggs I could buy? I would really like to add a few so my little Ameraucana isn't the only one..

I kinda gave up on electric fencing with my Nigerian Dwarves. They were willing to take the powerful shock in order to get to the greenery on the other side of the fence. They'd literally SCREAM as they pushed through the fence, but once they were out, it was totally worth it to them!

I found I like cattle panels. These things. If you have a fence jumper, they won't work, but my goats are quite content to stay behind them. Babies can slip through the panels and go on adventures, but I found that since their mother is still behind the fence, they never go far at all. They are more expensive, but incredibly sturdy. They hold up against goats rubbing against them, which can put a lot of stress on a fence.

As far as the goats go, they are a pain. I love them to death, but the reason I dont have any right now is because i havent built a secure place to keep them. At my last place my goat pen was 2x4 (wire hole size) no climb horse fencing, stretched tight with a top rail. It worked really well, they rarely got out. Occasionally one would dig under it so burying a couple inches wouldnt be a bad idea. Shrinky Dink,

As I was saying, Shrinky Dink, the shrink wrapped chick I pipped for and eventually pulled out of its shell, is alive and doing great! Yay! I am glad I intervened.

Hatched 5 of 5 yesterday! It was a great hatching week for me. 15 eggs 15 chicks. No more due till end of the month...bummer.

Happy belated mothers day to every one!!

Lisa
