Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening all! Just finished dinner with the kids...Fast Fish Florentine and broccoli-YUMMY! And I am happy to report that the both get desert too! (no tears!) So today we put a fench around the front of the garden adn they played "Princess and the Knight."

I love when kids pretend!

Here are a few pics of my broody and her babies. They are my project birds to see whuch makes the better OE...blue over brown or brown over blue...these are Cuckoo Marans and Brown over Blue chicks.

This is my broody that was happy to move to the cage and have 15 pure eggs. The other one (SS) didnt want to move so I let her stay on this one's nest...she only ended up with 2 chicks! The one in the cage has 10 with 4 in the bator and one that was a quitter. I dont know if the ones in the bator will hatch or not but they seemed to move during the water check. (I really didnt want to toss them and have them still alive....) I will see if they hatch in 2 days...
Frenchie - I hear ya on the sleep driving! I've got a whole laundry list of things I should talk about to my doctor, that is, IF I ever see one at some point.

- rabbit meat is delicious! Plus it is far more superior a meat than even chicken is! By far very very healthy!
They say that you should only tell your Doc 1 or 2 things that are bothering you at each visit. I guess they cant concentrate on more than that? You are supposed to ger better results this way.
I think those rabbits are meant as pets...just sayin'!
I sure was envious last weekend reading the posts of everyone prepping for the bash. We haven’t had our camper out since buying our new place two years ago. I definitely plan to join in the fun next year, I felt like the kid that didn’t get to go on the school field trip ….

Ok I need more of that great chicken wisdom. We set the dozen eggs under our “mom-to-be” Delaware on the 16th, so if all goes well we should have chicks any day now. Since my only chick experience has been with meaties I have a few questions:
  1. Do they need special vaccinations? NO
  2. Should I add anything special to their water? With the meaties I added sugar for the first couple of days . . . was that just because of potential dehydration? It is not really necessary but some do add save a chick or electrolytes
  3. We feed our layers organic, but picked up a small bag of Nutrena Naturewise Chick Starter on sale, has anyone had experience with this feed? I plan to put a little feeder and waterer in the brooder box w/mom and chicks. She currently has a little dog dishes of water and feed, but we will remove the water dish to avoid drowning. If the dish isnt deep they wont drown I assume mom will drink from their waterer too?? She and chicks will be confined to the brooder box for the first several days. Once we move the box to the floor of the new coop they will all have access to a small run where they can see the rest of the flock but not interact yet.
WHEW . . . sorry for all the questions and long post, and sure glad to have so much experience to tap into
Good luck on your chick experience!
Duncan. Definitely Duncan!

Ok, well I guess that one is worth repeating, at least.

Well, I guess I have no comment cause I dont know who they are...perhaps I should Google and see what all the hype is about?

DInner is cleaned up and the kids are clamoring about ice cream. SHeesh--no rest for me!
Have a great night! TerriO

Well, made it to the nutritionist or whatever she is..... was surprised to get a skinny one. My dad went to one once that was huge !!! Hard to take advice from a porker but now I have no excuse. This woman was very nice and I made her chuckle a few times just by the look I would give her when she would ask silly questions like.... How many days a week do I like to eat sweets ???? Told ya it was a silly question !!!

Sure wish my regular doctor would get back from his vacation in PARIS !!! I still have this wheezing going on in my chest and sure would like to find out about my pulm function test and sleep study.
Well, looks like I have a plan to follow..... hmmm... Not a happy camper right not even if I know I have to do it. I feel like crap and if I don't do something like now I will have a rotten summer. Guess I'll just have to take the bull by the horns and do it.

Speaking of bulls, the neighbor borrowed our stock trailer to go to GB and get two female cows (don't know what breed) guess he came home with just one, the other was to big to force into the trailer. Guess her nephew is going to bring it up this weekend if they can get it in their trailer. Won't be ours again cause we go for hay tomorrow and I'm sure ET isn't going to unload it and reload it. We use it up so fast we just store it in the trailer.
Dreading the phone call that the chicks and ducklings will be at the po in the morning.... not that I don't want them I just do do well in the mornings. GUess I'll take the good old ambien early tonight.

TO, to answer your question. The knee is basically the shin. The long shaft between the knee and ankle on a real leg. They call it a knee. The one I have is a C-Leg. Was the most sought after one on the market a while back. Now they have improved models but insurance of course won't pay for the top of the line. So mine that was sent out for repair (the only part of me that gets to travel
gig.gif
) is exactly like the one I showed you. That plastic cover snaps over it to protect it. Not suppose to get wet. They guy will plug mine in to his lap top tomorrow and adjust the settings. Gets pretty complicated. It should for $70k. How it works is when you take a step and roll on to the ball of the foot it sends a signal (does this tons of times per second) to the knee unit. Hard to explain but there is hydraulics in it and they can adjust how fast, how much resistance, and a bunch of other stuff. Even a slight rotation makes a huge difference. So basically I might walk different every day, depending if I put it on crooked or I'm retaining water or have GAINED WEIGHT
th.gif
Gets alot more complicated but now aren't you glad you asked !!! lol And no you will never see me in shorts.... my real leg is way uglier then all of my fake ones combined !!
So after I lose tons of weight I will probably go get a new one made. That is a pain in the ARSS !!! Sometimes feels great other times Not !!

Anyone else on a diet around here ???????? Hate to be the lone Ranger !!!
Seems like today is my day to have a headache. ET had one yesterday !!!

Ps; I was sure to keep the water 1/2" above the food.
When you use acv, do you need to cover it? Not a towel, but air tight?

Quote: I used to use acv. I made my own LABS and use that now. I covered them both with water. You will not have problems with either one as long as you keep them covered with water. I put a towel on top of the one in the house to keep out..winged creatures that might venture in. The one outside is covered to keep the chickens out. If you decide to use acv you would not need much, maybe a 1/4 teaspoon of the ACV in a small container. It does need to have the mother. Braggs sells it at Walmart.
grrrrrr..........
lol..

TO.... Those little kids are adorable !!! Who's are they by the way ?? You aren't a Grandma are you ? I didn't think so but my memory is playing tricks on me lately..... I know you babysit for them but wasn't on much when you must have said who or who's they are. Cute for sure.

I agree, tell them one or two things. When I went down to my doc in Racine I started out telling him that I was getting over a cold but if he would have looked at my chart I was complaining of shortness of breath last Aug and they did a chest Xray and it was clear. (remember ET had the sarcoidosis in his lungs and I thought maybe I had something too..... chicken dust or ??)

So I told the doc that before the cold that I had that I was short of breath and that I never really got over my cold from a month or so ago..... thus the pulm function test. The CT scan didn't show anything in my lungs but my wheezing is in my bronci..... I am so dead tired all of the time..... I'm tempted to just go to the walk in clinic and have someone prescribe something for me. I'd like to know WHY in the SAM HILL does it take so long for them to read the tests and send them to the doctors office. I"ve been making a pest of myself which I NEVER EVER did in my life but hey... I have senile ority and want some answers !!!

Glad I wasn't the only one who didn't know who those guys were talking about !!! Don't remember McLoad either !!!!! LOL

When we got home from the bash ET collected 37 eggs. Collected another 37 since. TG the bar called and wants some.

Hey Delisha,

What is your little white doggies name again? How old is she ? I keep thinking about her walking and sniffing around in my tent. I said I sure hope he doesn't lift his leg and someone said, it's a girl !!! I was happy to hear that !! LOL Cause if he would have done that my girls would follow suit !!! lol I was telling my sister about her. She is a Westie right? She was so dang cute. Acted like she owned the place (I say that to my girls all the time) then she just jumped on the bed and collapased and fell right to sleep !! Tell her Auntie Sandi misses her !!! LOL I never met a Westie in person.
I was amazed at how well all of the dogs got along at the bash !!!
Next year we bring ponies right????
I was thinking the way they were cleaning up the kitchen Sunday morning that flat piece of the pan could have been swept like a hockey puk under the stove or fridge !!! Gotta look out for girls with brooms !!!

Thank you Auntie Sandi!!
.yes she makes herself right at home no matter where she is. She is 12 this year. I am pretty lucky she is still around. She has good days and bad days. I was so happy to be able to take her to the camp out. She just loves everyone. She is a good girl and only has accidents when she laughs...lol. Now days she is always looking for a bed. I forgot to brings hers and Kasha was delighted you were kind enough to bring one for her.

I want her !!!! She would fit in well with my two 13 yr old girls !!! Along with my Rooster Rescue I could have Sandi's Senior Small Dog Retirement home !!! SSSDR !!

Man it was so cold Saturday night the girls didn't sleep in there bed. Well they never really do, that bed is for the van. They sleep in bed with us but on top of the covers but NOT Saturday night. They both slept under the covers of the sleeping bag and that was a first I know for Butt Dog !! She's not a snuggler, she loves her lovin but then she sleeps on top and by herself.
Does anyone know how cold it got Saturday night.
I'll take the blame for it...... cause we bought a fan just in case it got to hot in the tent.....
