Good evening all! Just finished dinner with the kids...Fast Fish Florentine and broccoli-YUMMY! And I am happy to report that the both get desert too! (no tears!) So today we put a fench around the front of the garden adn they played "Princess and the Knight."

I love when kids pretend!
Here are a few pics of my broody and her babies. They are my project birds to see whuch makes the better OE...blue over brown or brown over blue...these are Cuckoo Marans and Brown over Blue chicks.

This is my broody that was happy to move to the cage and have 15 pure eggs. The other one (SS) didnt want to move so I let her stay on this one's nest...she only ended up with 2 chicks! The one in the cage has 10 with 4 in the bator and one that was a quitter. I dont know if the ones in the bator will hatch or not but they seemed to move during the water check. (I really didnt want to toss them and have them still alive....) I will see if they hatch in 2 days...
I think those rabbits are meant as pets...just sayin'!
DInner is cleaned up and the kids are clamoring about ice cream. SHeesh--no rest for me!
Have a great night! TerriO

They say that you should only tell your Doc 1 or 2 things that are bothering you at each visit. I guess they cant concentrate on more than that? You are supposed to ger better results this way.Frenchie - I hear ya on the sleep driving! I've got a whole laundry list of things I should talk about to my doctor, that is, IF I ever see one at some point.
- rabbit meat is delicious! Plus it is far more superior a meat than even chicken is! By far very very healthy!

Good luck on your chick experience!I sure was envious last weekend reading the posts of everyone prepping for the bash. We haven’t had our camper out since buying our new place two years ago. I definitely plan to join in the fun next year, I felt like the kid that didn’t get to go on the school field trip ….![]()
Ok I need more of that great chicken wisdom. We set the dozen eggs under our “mom-to-be” Delaware on the 16th, so if all goes well we should have chicks any day now. Since my only chick experience has been with meaties I have a few questions:
WHEW . . . sorry for all the questions and long post, and sure glad to have so much experience to tap into
- Do they need special vaccinations? NO
- Should I add anything special to their water? With the meaties I added sugar for the first couple of days . . . was that just because of potential dehydration? It is not really necessary but some do add save a chick or electrolytes
- We feed our layers organic, but picked up a small bag of Nutrena Naturewise Chick Starter on sale, has anyone had experience with this feed? I plan to put a little feeder and waterer in the brooder box w/mom and chicks. She currently has a little dog dishes of water and feed, but we will remove the water dish to avoid drowning. If the dish isnt deep they wont drown I assume mom will drink from their waterer too?? She and chicks will be confined to the brooder box for the first several days. Once we move the box to the floor of the new coop they will all have access to a small run where they can see the rest of the flock but not interact yet.
Well, I guess I have no comment cause I dont know who they are...perhaps I should Google and see what all the hype is about?Duncan. Definitely Duncan!![]()
Ok, well I guess that one is worth repeating, at least.![]()
