good still raining morning,

cuppa is almost done.. I read the posts to here..

I have the first two Barock chicks peeking out the bator door.. Now I can stop collecting eggs. I have enough in the bator for replacement hens.. speaking of hens.. those Barock hens lay a really jumbo egg.. I hope their replacements carry on that gene.. I also hope the new chicks are not all roosters..

I do have to set up another chick TV.. maybe two..

Maybe I will start up a couple of the brooder pens in the chicken coop.. yeah, that's it.. the BO's do not need much supplementary heat anymore.. they are almost 5 weeks old..
Looks like I have my rainy day project for today..

I heard noises from the chicken coop late last night,, I hope it was just the chickens rearranging themselves on the roost.. Puppy did bark at the noise.. It was raining too hard, so I didn't shut the doors..

Good Morning! TO those pics of the kids are so cute! 9 pages no wonder CRS is rampant. Jim hope nothing bad in the coop last night. BL4 think the kids and you will remember the trip forever. Good Job! CRS

Finally went and got the loose rye straw yesterday. Have enough to get through the summer and then some. He planted rye again this year last year it all burnt up. Going to wait until next week to clean the coop when the heat comes because I realy enjoy shoveling a winters worth of chicken crap on a nice hot day. Nothin better I tell ya. Re-lining fishin poles today for the trip Nort. Looks like we'll be coming home in the rain but I really don't care Pfft! Don't know if my tude is getting better or not but I'm starting to worry less about getting things done. Less work = more fishin.

Oh, I should have quoted the things that I wanted to comment on cause I forgot!!!

We have mostly adjusted to our return. I didn't completely unload the car as we are going camping again Tuesday, so we just took out clothes, food, and personal items. You would have all laughed at me when I was driving home this past Tuesday from work when I discovered that there were ants crawling all over the drivers side door and chair (that I was sitting in). I must have looked crazy while driving down the road swatting at the ants!!!

Today is the kids last day of school. Really they just have to go to pick up their report card!

I still haven't planted my swap plants, but at least it has been rainy so they won't dry out.

Got ****** at the kids this week and gave over the responsibility to them for all of their belongings and clothing. I told them that as long as their stuff remained in their room (with the door shut) that I would not nag them about the state of their rooms, but in return they could not ask me where their stuff is or about clean laundry! This will be great as long as I can keep my cool when they ask me about the where-abouts of this or that. I hope to keep repeating, "We had an agreement that you would not ask me about your belongings and I have kept up my end of the bargain. I need you to keep up your end of the bargain!"

Well, I get my retainers today. I think that my teeth have already shifted cause my bite has changed, so hopefully the retainers fit.

Thanks Delisha, Angiebubs, and TerriO for all the good advice. I'm sure I'll be bugging you all some more as we progress through this. I'm so excited . . . probably a good thing I park and ride, bus doesn't come until 4:30, so I have no choice but to stay and work (heavy sigh!!)

Thursday and it is raining again

My "little peeps" are not so little any more. One of the boys is starting to crow. He is sooo funny . Puffs his chest all up, gets momentum by flapping his wings and then sounds like an old Studebaker horn ;-) he makes me laugh every morning. He is pretty too. Gray body, darker gray head and neck with a orangey red pea comb. He struts around like he is the boss

Hope all the peeps will be ok for 2 weeks. The oldest child will be in charge of chicken care. I am heading to Tulsa for a big horse show. 90 and sunny all next week! ~ I think we might all melt!!! Show horses have been in their winter blankies here all week!
Pretty excited for the show, we have been working really hard. So I suppose I won't get much chicken chatter in, but will try to keep up.

Delish, sorry about your babies :'( I agree on the ff. It doesn't take long for that stuff to get packed.

Amyb, I hope your little guy starts to feel better soon. And once you can make a habit of getting up, its not so bad. I just got lazy once I actually lost the weight. Now its just creeping back. Wish I could make myself start again. I actually have a borrowed elliptical holding the carpeting in place on the sun porch right now...

update,, 6 barocks, now.. boy are they big chicks,, almost as large as the turkeys at hatch ..

DrH,, every minute spent fishing is tacked onto the end of your time here on earth.. so fish all you can..
