Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

there is nothing wrong with styrofoam bators.. 99% of the problems are all operator error ..
unless you want to be tied down to home for 3 weeks at a time, get a turner.. and a fan is nice, but not essential,

bleach water is sufficient to clean them out.. just how dirty are you going to let it get ? If you do not let the eggs actually hatch in there, they stay fairly clean.. I run my sportsmans nonstop for months with out cleaning them..

I got the new garden dragged and half of it tilled today.. I brought up boulders the size of volkswagons with the tiller.

I found out that the hose will reach well into the green house so watering is a snap..

I still have about 3 pages to read,

BBP..that looks fantastic...do you have a receipe?
For some reason BYC (or my computer) will not let me copy and paste so I will try to type the web address for the recipe and see if it works: www.bojongourmet.com/2012/05/gluten-free-strawberry-rhubarb-crumble.html

Ok, apparently my link doesn't work. Just go to the Bojon Gourmet website and search for gluten free strawberry rhubarb crumble.

btw: I didn't have rice flour, so I just omitted it. I also didn't have brown sugar so I used Demerara. And I cut the butter down to 5 tbs. the first time, 4 the second. It still tastes great.

BABYLDY4 ~I am so jealous !!! You are taking the vacation I always wanted to do but life just kept getting in the way and now it's not possible. Seriously I love reading your updates and try to imagine what you are seeing. please post lots of pics when you get home :hugs

I have a few babies to transfer.. some go out to the brooder in the guinea coop and the rest will be taken out of the bator and put into the chick TV..

sand + c;ay = bricks.. got it.. I do have lots of mulch and I am planning on using lots of it to amend my new garden soil..

now I wish I had a Mantis.. my Troybilt tiller is too big to maneuver inside the greenhouse..
I think my brother has one.. time to invite him out for a cuppa and donuts..

I still have to fill the feed bins, so I better get at it..

. Slipped tendon on one leg. Hops around on one leg flapping it's wings. It's 4 weeks old. I probably should have put it down, but it was eating and drinking so I didn't. Oh well, I suppose if your hatching chicks there are going to be a few special ones...

Free chick to a good home...

good evening folks,

near purrrfect summer day in the north country,,,,,,would have been great day for fishing!

Jim and every other gardener that is fearing the weeding this summer, if you haven't already discovered the "stirrup hoe" I suggest you make the investment. I have used these for many years and still am amazed at how few gardeners are aware of them. This is the time of year they really work well, (when weeds are small and just starting) if you get on them now and keep up you will be ahead of the game all summer. Around $20 at Ace or FF, even seen them at walmart and other box stores.

simple shuffel it back and forth just keeping the blade under the soil surface, clips off the weed at the root and still scuffs the soil surface providing aeration. Even as old and worn out as I am I can do a 100' row in a very few minutes.

OM (organic matter) breaks up that clay, takes a few years but well worth the effort. Hardwood leaves applied in the fall and tilled in b4 a rye cover crop really help. Also a liberal application of gypsum aids tilth.
