Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening all !
Well, got most of my tomatoes in the ground today... I just have to start getting up earlier... or at least getting up and about. Thought I would get more done but decided to make a makeshift pen for the older ducks... first night outside in a dog house. Glad they knew enought to go in it or I'd be sleeping outside wondering how they are. Still have ducks in the house but as each batch gets older out they'll go.

Funny how Unk has brought up hoe's and chicks in one day..... Hmmmmm !

Think if ET ever turns off the TV I"m going to have him hook me up to his Cpap machine. Found a brand new Star Trek mask and hose. Just need to find the headband. Don't want to use a bungie or rubber band !!!! LOL That could hurt someone if it went flying.
My sister has a cpap and it just goes in her nose like those oxygen plugs or something. She did say it comes out a lot so I'll see what they offer me.

Judge, when you got your mini did they say he was broke to ride? My trainer doesn't like to take on ponies since an adult can't ride them they are hard to train and get away with a lot of bull. I would like to take my little paint pony to the amish and see if he is broke like they told me he was. First I want to try on a harness and see if he was broke to drive. Supposedly he was amish broke to begin with but ????? I would never forgive myself if I put Addie on him and he bolted or bucked her off. I know my POA is broke to drive... by a young girls so she is green broke but I did drive her when I went to get her. When I asked her to back up the woman in the cart with me said "she didn't know if she taught her that " Now you tell me ??? LOL Geez
Guess the POA like to buck riders off so she should go to them as well. I would of course pick out an amish with a good reputation and would make frequent unanounced visits... trouble is they are so far away from here. At least 75-100 miles.
Ok, gonna go look up this resp syndrome I have.... Ugh !!!
Sandimaybebacklaterormaynot
They told us that their kids rode him, but I don't know that he was necessarily broke. We had a neighbor who trains horses come over last fall and she thought he seemed to be trained to jump. Other than that I don't know too much about him.

Ok ready for take off !!!!! ET just hooked me up. I think I might have dreams or nightmares of being a fighter pilot !!! Crap, can't wear my $1 bifocals with this thing on !!!!

Might work better then wiring your jaw too for a diet !!! lol

Ok, back to my search for whatever this is.....

Hi All!

Psyco...I wouldn't stress so much about too much rain. It might be a bit Muddy to work in, but there are things you can do to keep seeds in place. Like cover with a strip of news paper. If you think the wind will take it just steak it down with sticks. The seeds will get wet without washing away. even a light layer of straw will work.Unfortunately, Mother Nature must balance as best she can for all, sometimes it sucks for a few.

Yea, I remember those days of "naps" when I was working nights and had kids at home. LOL Seems like nothing ever got done either.

vicki... You never said what the "drama" was.

FT.... Sure hope you figure out your breathing issue. At least you have insurance and doctors to work on it.

Jim... We had a nice little tiller that would probably been perfect for the greenhouse. It did a nice little 15" or so row. It was nice to get into small areas and eve I could use it.

Dan.... I had one of those hoes years ago! I should get another, thanks for reminding me of it!

CC.... Sorry about your bunny

irish.... YOU WOULD HAVE TO BRING UP TICKS! *itch, scratch, check, itch, scratch, check, ......*

We were suppose to get rain today and didn't so after supper I went to Wally World and got a new sprinkler (old one broke last year) and I found a solution to my son yelling at me for leaving the water on! They had a mechanical hose timer for about $8.50. You can set it for up to 2 hours..... works for me! So I tried it out and it did just fine. Realized even with our smaller garden I still have to move the sprinkler. Maybe I should get another one and set them up tandem. I hate walking through the mud to move the D@mn thing. Got 2 more water melon plants and some shallots too.

The Cochin tried to settle her kid (3) in the turkey coop tonight... the hen turkeys did NOT think it was a good idea....They are all safe in their old area now. So nice to see all the moms and babies running around!

Night All!

Okay, I am ready to buy my first incubator! I will be getting it out of my paycheck this Friday, so I thought I'd post and ask a few questions and for opinions. I WAS going to get one out of my paycheck this LAST Friday, but my dog had developed something the vet told me is "wet eczema" and is due to allergies. So a couple hundred unexpected dollars later, and incubator needed to wait another week. Not a problem, as you have to take care of what you HAVE first, before trying to take care of what you MAY have in the future but is not yet in the works. Doggie's doing great, healing well, and she'll be just fine.

Anywhozit - these are the 2 I'm looking at:

and this:

Any thoughts?
I have the farm innovators one, but you will have to ask TerriO how it is working. Everyone is right about the thermometer being inaccurate.

Crowing!

My 10 toed buckeye is crowing at 4.5 weeks. Amazing to me

I took some pics of his feet for my curiousity.

The 5th toe on each foot is where spurs would grow. They point up, and never touch the ground.

any comments?

Good Summer Morning! JJ that is one neat lookin 10 toe'd bird! Should do well on the perch.

It seems that weather doesn't matter as much when your catchin fish. We only fished on and off on Sat and we got 5 walleyes, 1 bullhead, L got a 14" smallie and I got an 18" smallie. L out fished me 5-3 but I got the coveted nickle for the first fish and after that she can catch all the fish to feed me she wants.

going back I think on Thurs to change a dry rotted, blown out tire on the old camper, put a new roof on the outhouse, build a small deck on the newer camper and mow the neighbors lawn. Finally got the mower running good but only had time to do ours. I owe them big time for mowing. Skeeters were bad. But the important thing was that we had a good time and we did! Better get movin.

VickiW- read your signature and I have a gimp chick you can rescue!!  It needs you...:jumpy .  Slipped tendon on one leg.  Hops around on one leg flapping it's wings.  It's 4 weeks old.  I probably should have put it down, but it was eating and drinking so I didn't.   Oh well, I suppose if your hatching chicks there are going to be a few special ones...

Free chick to a good home...

aaaaaaaw, poor baby. Are you sure it's a tendon??? Any clue if it's pulley or roo? What breed? NOTE TO ALL~my city raised hubby thinks all roos are evil and will eat our little puppy so I defer to him on this one issue and won't take in any roos
even tho I would love to have one. Got to let him win one don't I? ;)

Morning everyone!! Wow, ten toes and no spurs, cool!

Frenchie-how was your night? Did you sleep well?

Unka- great point. I forgot all about the gypsum. We have just the opposite problem here. Pure sand. Took us years and literally tons of all forms of organic matter to finally have a good medium.

The garden is going pretty good. I think I will need to put in more beans. The wild birds and bunnies are helping themselves. I planted a small garden this year. Last year I spent to much time weeding. I am trying hard to reduce my weeding time. I planted my pumpkins on the side of the coop in a bale of straw to help with weeds too. I might have to plant a few more seeds. Only one plant came up. All of my herbs did not return. I will have to replace some of them.

there is nothing wrong with styrofoam bators.. 99% of the problems are all operator error ..
unless you want to be tied down to home for 3 weeks at a time, get a turner.. and a fan is nice, but not essential,

bleach water is sufficient to clean them out.. just how dirty are you going to let it get ? If you do not let the eggs actually hatch in there, they stay fairly clean.. I run my sportsmans nonstop for months with out cleaning them..

I got the new garden dragged and half of it tilled today.. I brought up boulders the size of volkswagons with the tiller.

I found out that the hose will reach well into the green house so watering is a snap..

I still have about 3 pages to read,

........jimreadingreadingreading......

Well everyone that I've talked to has told me to get one with a fan because the air temps can vary by up to 5 degrees and the eggs are heated unevenly, so it helps out with hatch rates. And multiple people have said that the incubators they've had in the past that were still air vs circulated air, the circ. air ones had a much better hatch rate.

"just how dirty are you going to let it get?"
What's that supposed to mean? And anyways, I wouldn't know. How dirty DOES it get? I've never hatched eggs in my life so I don't even know what to expect, but I would expect that it would/could get messy. If you have broken shells, slimy goop, runny poop from the new hatches, what if an egg explodes? Why wouldn't I expect that it would get messy?
"if you do not let the eggs hatch in there they stay fairly clean"
Again - I'm lost. Why *WOULDN'T* I let the eggs hatch in there? What's the purpose of buying an incubator if you don't hatch out the eggs???
