Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yep, marbles work good for the waterers too to help keep chicks from drowning... even better for newly hatch guineas or tiny chicks is to use a quail waterer. It also attaches to the mason jars. They are a bit harder to find. I got a few at Tractor Supply. Fleet Farm does NOT carry them.

Forgot, Happy Aniversary AmyB and Congrats on the house CS.

Well, I'm bushed..... didn't get a good nights sleep last night.... kept getting up to ..... well let's just say to go potty.... which is very unsual for me.......Move over ET.... I have to goooooo again !!!!! Must have been something I ate or ??? Maybe picked up a piece of gum from the coop ???? LOL

So made it to my echocardiogram on time.... had a nice girl who moved here from Nebraska for the job. She has a standard poodle which she enters in the county fair and a 2.5 yr old niece named Addie too..... She sure liked to talk.... more then me I think !!!

After that went to see my diatician.... she is as skinny as a rail !!! Most of them that I've heard of are Fat Arses !!! Kind of hard not to take it seriously when you have someone who actually does follow the rules !!! lol

Then went to Wally World.... overheard two young girls ask the guy if the fish were male or female... he said no idea... I looked over and asked which ones.... Goldfish !!! lol I said doesn't matter what you get. You won't have babies unless they are in a pond or huge aquarium with vegitation and they get bigger........ Then she asked the guy if she could put corey cats or plecostomous's (sp) in with the gold fish..... he said... yes..... Ok, I couldn't just stand there ...... I jumped in again and asked her what type of aquarium or fish bowl they were going into..... does it have a filter etc.......

Pointed out that they need warmer water then the gold fish. It would not be an ideal situation for them.... explained the pleco's are veggie/algae eaters and the cory's will eat food on the bottom but that gold fish are very dirty... The best thing would be to get the gold fish..... go home read up on the other two and then decide on those.... They were very grateful... Hope those fish are alright !!! Better home then the ones coming home from the fair though.
Last month down in Racine I helped a lady pick out a 10gal fish take for the fair fish her kids had just won !!! Wonder what she spent that night on her free fish !!!
So after leaving there I went to Menards to get my big dogs their Diamond Natural food for large dogs........ Got out of the hot van (cause fan isn't working for the air or heat)
time for supper break I will continue later bbl

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. :) nothin doin here tho. hubby didn't get home til late and this 6-day headache keeps me from being in the best of moods.
Happy Birthday Colton!
RBerry- Not specifically 'down the road'. It's more like down the road and around a few corners! lol we're out on X, but drive by Argue often and I did a "nap trip" for DS the other day and meandered along Argue for a bit. :) we were on the other side of W from you though.
Big Fam- I'm sorry I didn't see your post about being sick! I even went back a few pages.... Hope you and DD adjust to her having braces! It's awesome to have such thoughtful and caring friends! :)
FT- I hope your tests come out with good news and you can get some relief quickly. I agree with whoever said to talk to your MD, Just tell them how it is and hopefully they can help you get your CPAP.
My dad is coming up tomorrow for the weekend (from Ark.), returning my gramma to Prarie DuChein, I'm super excited to see him again. Mom will be staying behind again to keep the garden managed and take care of the dogs/cats. He was who helped make my coop! We always had the 'little barn' for our wood, but havent really used our fireplace for a couple years and we now have it stacked out by the big shed anyway so I claimed it. :) I'm loving my chicks more everyday. Big momma comes running to me all the time and now that they are out roaming, they are finally getting more comfortable and venturing out into the side yard. I got scared this afternoon though, they went down into the ravine behind the coop and the weeds are taller than they are and I couldn't see any of them. I called for Momma and she clucked and headed up to me. :) crazy! love it. Both dog and cat have been very good with them too! I'm not sure about my dads dog, so they will stay in the run until we get that figured out. :( boy will they be ticked at me! I'd rather they be ticked than dead tho, so they'll just have to et over it. ;)
rambled on enough.... be well

AmyB,

but I bet she wishes her oldest was a girl!

I would post more pics but I am on the laptop. And I think I should hold off until tomorrow...... don"t want to break things up more than I already have...

Made a cheesecake tonight for my boss...... his birthday is Friday but since he is taking the day off I thought we should have something for tomorrow.

Kids spent the day at the farm helping the in-laws do odds and ends around the place. Good work for them to do, they get to go back tomorrow and help some more.

Good evening to everyone.

News here consists of a potentially pregnant young kitten that has semi-adopted us (yes I've decided to feed her), plants are growing well (I still have to plant collards, mustard, & kale), closing at noon Friday, dropping all kiddos off on Sunday, DH wants to paint the inside of the house over the summer, all animals are fine, & I am anxiously/impatiently waiting for the berries (raspberry, blackberry, mulberry, strawberry) to ripen.
Kristi-its a roo
Deli-if I wasn't closing on Friday I'd go to bigfams with you and joe.
Glad the cocci deaths have ceased.
Jim-glad your dog is getting better...good luck getting her off the hot dog diet.
TO-how long you gonna talk about planting those swt potatoes? Just plant em already. What are those 2 kiddos for anyway but for digging in dirt?;-)
Bl4-thanks for the pics
Watching the Stanley cup finals with DD and wishing I had some fruit pie!
Wish you could go, but house closing is so exciting!
Your funny tonight too
Hello,
I am new here and am in dire need of some help. I made a really bad mistake and now am paying dearly for it. I'm trying to track down a man that sold Black Copper Marans at the Wheaton Swap Meet in late April. this is located just West of Chippewa Falls on old 29. Anyone who attended this swap and knows others who were selling I would greatly appreciate help.

I have lost 10 chickens now and 24 sick another 16 exposed. I had to take my prize Black/Lavender Oprington rooster to Barron testing facility today to be tested for what the vet is sure is mycoplasma.

Thank you,
Stacy
Stacy,
Sorry to hear of your losses. Hopefully the vet is wrong. Please keep us updated.

Hey all, not much new here 3rd batch is hatching well trying too...lock do3n was Sunday night midnight, suppose to hatch Tuesday, well 1 did the rest today, they are my SLW and a few Dels ....... 7 out only 15 to go I'm thinking this batch is gonna have a very low hatch rate, and I am not so happy with my new Brinsea eco 20, the humidity just seems way low at hatch and I have had a big temp spike at day 20 for the last 2 hatches, went to 101 and I turned it down.to 100........ anyone else ever have this happen?
I can see 1 chick is dead in the shell, pipped and zipped, but never came out............ 1 has been trying all day but the new babies keep sitting on that egg and she/he seems like they just can't kick the shell off with the added weight of the new babies......... several other pips on the bottom of the egg because the eggs move when the babies aren't on it........ questioning myself if I should open and remove the live ones and hope for the best? with the rest???
Adam is out as always, on his way to a Friday delivery in Minot ND, thinking he will be late home this weekend again, so very much hate this place and this dam job......... been very depressed as of late, and just can't make myself snap out of it, tried Pm'ing Zeke but no answerer, hope he isn't already gone for the summer......I wish Adam could get in somewhere else that allows some home time, or a rider, this place is nothing but liars........... and his checks for being gone 6 days a week are crap, last check 66.24 not even enough for him to eat on this week, had to take a com check and we short in our checking thanks to their bullcrap excuses, I think its just another way to screw him outa pay.......... not the first screwed up check.............. so anyway
Just thought I would say hi and let ya know I'm here, just usually don't feel like posting............. Later peeps...............Kim

Ghost, Ottery is hiring.

Just had the neighbors get into a tiff about dogs. At 11 at night. Screaming F-bombs at each other. I really dislike these neighbors.....

Thank you Delisha, I definitely will as I want to do everything possible to ensure this doesn't happen to others like me. My loss count is now up to 12 this evening. Lost a 2 week old chick and a 2 month old this evening which were in pens 200 feet away that I thought were un-infected. I'm hoping this was a fluke happening and my other 38 chicks are not infected or I may lose my entire flock.
Stacy

Thank you unkadan. I will try and call them tomorrow. I did call the person in charge of the swap and he had no contact records or premise id numbers for anyone. Quite upsetting when I found out that it was required by the state just for instances like these. I'm just so sickened by this happening that I wanna scream and bawl all in the same breath. I've been making tons of phone calls trying to track this person down on top of warning others of what has happened. This spring was my first experience attending swap meets to purchase chickens and I won't be doing it again any time soon. After raising chickens for nearly 20 years this is my first experience with any sickness, I have only lost them to predators in the past. I'm new to all this disease and treatment. I made the mistake of going to the local feed store for advice and wasted 3 weeks treating them with Sulmet and after my prize rooster went down 2 days ago it hit me that it needed vet attention. Being near death the vet convinced me to sacrifice him for further testing to get to the bottom of the flock infestation. It's going to be a really long next 3-5 days for sure.
