Awesome pics, Mel! DH & I want to do that same trip. He drove his uncle's moving truck out to Idaho when he was 18. Hasn't been back yet.

Sorry if I missed anything important but I'm a few pages behind. The weather has been so nice, so I have been working in the gardens the past 2 days. And yes, I am SORE! I also talked to Zeke tonight. He says hello & misses us, but his wife cancelled the internet on him, or so he said.

He is doing well and just put his incubator on lockdown, so

Stacy... WOW... so sorry about your loses. And your favorite roo too! Hope you get it figured out soon!

Young son is determine to fill the freezer with fish! e brought home more bass and a couple of sunfish. We had yummy grilled bass for supper!
The 3 little BLRW roosted with the big girls again. So cute!

Thank you all for your concern. woke up to 2 dead cochin chicks that are in house, one polish listless and other cochins sneezing. What I want to know is how the heck am I suppose to cull my Mary Lou(speckled sussex) whom I've had for 5 years and any of them for that matter as I've never culled before. From all I've read about respritory diseases they will be life carriers and i would not be able to sell chicks without infecting others. I spent so much to get certsin breeds. I have Black/Lavender, Buff and Lavender Orphington, Partridge Cochin, Buckeye, Speckled Sussex, Silver and Gold laced Wyondotte, a fewfriend crosses; Bantams-Buff Orphinton, Silkie, Frizzle, Partridge, Lavender, Black, and White Cochin, Mille Le Floure, other crosses so many breeds.

Sclark.... I'm really sorry you're going through this. I just lost 19 birds to cocci. When you're in the middle of something like that, it just seems like all you can do is watch and wait for your birds to die. <Hugs to you>

Culling is never ever easy, but sometimes has to be done. I do cry. I say a prayer. I don't chop the head off. I break the neck with a broomstick. There is a YouTube video that shows how to humanely cull a bird with a broomstick.

Thank you, I will search for that video. I didn't realize they had videos for that. I always watch for positives on YouTube not the negatives.

Stacy I hope you manage to track down the culprit.... the people managing the swap should get a slap on the wrist as well.

Than you babylady4. Well from what the state told me yesterday they would send an inspector right to the next swap and shut them down if they aren't following the state rules of practice. Now whether they actually do it is another thing. They also told me their are a number of swaps running illegally in Wisconsin and many people are going thru the same sadness I am for allowing anyone in to sell without the proper requirements namely a registered premises ID number. If they had that information from this swap I could work down the list and find the person but without it I have to find people that were there and hopefully someone will know this couple.

I am so sorry you are doing going threw this. It will be one of the hardest thing you have to do.
