Oh sorry, no she is taking others eggs. Last time I left her in the main coop and someone else killed her baby. I thought I could just move her to a different coop and she would do fine. Guess I'll see what she is like tomorrow and then go from there

Hey all, thanks for the answers, I will try to remember them asll..........
anyway some added details, my birds get good food not a skinny chicken in my yard, they are wormed regularly, and given 22 % protein feed, with scratch, that is 1/2 boss, in the am, they get all the veggies they can eat, left over kitchen scrap, and free range all day year round......... I have had chickens 3 years I have never lost a chicken to a sickness, or disease, I lost 1 young one from Jim who just showed up dead one morning and 1 girl from Jim also, same thing seemed fine at feeding time, ate, layed her egg, by noon she was dead, I think my rooster somehow broke her neck.
The only thing my chickens have ever had is mites last spring, and I haven't seem 1 since I went too sand in my coop last year....... No one seems sick or out of the ordinary, no runny stools, no, sneezy, wheezy, or coughing chickens............ I have not done anything differently in the whole 3 years i have had my chickens..........
Egg selection is done by feel and sight, only perfect looking, feeling eggs are chosen for hatching, clean eggs not washed or refrigerated eggs either, I have never bought eggs to hatch all my eggs are from my chickens. collected several times a day until I have 22/ 24 depending on size and what I think will fit in the incubator........ like Daphne's eggs will take up much more room than my EE's eggs, because she lays a extra large Jumbo egg......... anyway they never take more than 2 days to fill the incubator, they are set in a carton, right side up, at an angle, and rotated 2txs a day to keep them vital, they are not cooled but kept fresh, on the cool end of the kitchen counter, out of the sun or light....probablyy around 65 degrees there.. I also choose the biggest eggs for chick size instead of small eggs or for color if they are my EE's I only set Blue /Blue eggs........no greens or pinkish eggs were set.......... My ee's must be my best chickens because that is the hatch that did the best my second hatch. My first hatch had so many clears because my Del rooster was loose with 29 hens, until I separated for breeding, I should have waited a week or two before collecting eggs from that pen, but I was already running late because my brinsea was on back order and a month late in coming... so I set eggs 2 days after separating my breeding pens..

I may have been at fault for the baby with the guts hanging out, but not sure exactly how?? he was pipped and zipped and sat in that egg 2 days after my 21 st day, and he should have been ready to hatch on his own.... 1 other baby died in its shell pipped and zipped the same way and he died because I left him alone, the membrane was dried over his face........ why were the guts out anyway, is that a normal thing before hatch for the intestines to be outside the body cavity? I thought the only thing on the outside was the yolk sack.......?
and if all the eggs were set the same day how could 1 chick not be ready to hatch? all the others including the fully formed no pipped eggs looked the same size and stage at death, and the only thing outside the body was the undigested yolk sack........ so I'm really confused now.....
Now 1 more thing to ponder............. I cleaned and reset my bator today, 1/2 filled 1 chamber and let it come too temp, which now without eggs in it, is 99 degrees, when i removed the babies it was still at 101.......... why is it less now? it has been running since 830 am....and why would it spike in the last 2 days of incubation???????
Bigz does your incubator have digital controls? mine is the eco model no controls just a turner to adjust temp, and a regular thermometer inside the bator....?? I could not afford the fancy model, with all the extra's.......... so anyway I plan to set 1 more batch, I have a dozen good eggs from today, and will collect the rest tomorrow, any pointers on anything I may have did wrong??????? ....Kim

Ghost, I had a chick hatch with it's insides on the outside and nobody helped it at all. Sometimes it just happens.

/the camera I have is a Cannon EOS Rebel Ti3. I have the EFS 18-55 mm lens and the EFS 55-250 lens. In order to get the clarity of those shots I have a UV filter on both lenses and I picked up a polarizing lens. This helped immensely on cutting the reflection on the water surface and bringing out the detail on the shots in the Badlands.

I see that it is close to 12..... and I need to get up at 4:30!!!!

Time for bed..... later all!

OK, let's forget that I even posted.. so , a chicken that I gave to you died.. does that make me a criminal ?
You are a rare one in yourself,, NEVER had a chicken die other than by a pred ? that is awesome !!!! I'm sorry that my chickens spoiled your record..

Now, you come along with more details.. I was only going with the information you supplied.. and yes, I know you take good care of your chickens.. I only mentioned some of the things that could go wrong.. I was not accusing anybody of anything.. If you cannot handle my unsugared type of talking/typing, too bad.. and I hereby give notice.. I am not responding to any more posts.. and Mel,, sorry if you had a chick hatch that way.. but it does not change the fact that Kim stated she peeled the shell..

I never mentioned anything until I was asked directly.. go back and read the posts..

don't come down on me,, I did not screw up anybody's hatch for them,,

Well, just checked in and I see everyone is sitting around the camp fire singing Kum-by-yah.... well, anyway.

Babylady- great pics!

FF-sorry you are going through so much medically all the time. I have been sick for years and don't know why. Pain, and lots of it for no reason. It comes and goes. I hate going to the doctors. It seems to be Fybromyalgia, but I am not being treated because I got sick of taking tests. I will have to go back in though because I have been really bad the last few weeks, with today being the worst in a long time. I am so used to having some kind of pain that I guess I usually just try to ignore it and go about my business. Sometimes I can't. Sounds like your lucky to be here with us though and I pray that you feel better and get your CPAP.

Welcome to the one that bought the sick chicken. Sorry, I forgot your user name and will have to lose my post to go back and look. I think it's Stacy though. I hope you track them down and I really hope they didn't know about it.

It's been a bad day and I can't remember all that I read. My son is home on leave so the house has been full of 18-20 year old men this week, and they eat a lot. I forgot how much. I spent $400 on food before he got home Wednesday and it is dwindling. I went and saw Wicked in Milwaukee with my daughter last night. It was really great. I am pretty sure that's what did me in.

Thanks Lisa.... I know all to well about the fibromyalgia and how it comes and goes..... Have you ever had a sleep study? If I recall, which my memory is failing lately, fibro fog. I think I read that can be caused by that upper airway resistance syndrome and perhaps helped by a CPAP.
I know they say fibromyalgia is a catch all for symptoms that they really can't identify the cause. Please don't quit seeing doctors or having tests... your body is trying to tell you something.... you just need to find out what..... Years ago I went to a fibromyagia support group and there was a woman there that swore her's went away after she had a very expensive blood test done... Elsa something or other. It tested for sensitivities........ I had the test done and I had sensitivities to latex, silicone, I think pineapple, and a few other things. I remember going off bread for a while and I did feel better.
That was over 20 years ago...just about the time they started using aspartame in diet soda.

I haven't done any reading up lately on any new theory's on fibromyalgia but I'd bet they've got many more ideas. Have you tried going wheat free or gluten free to see if you feel better?

I go on Tuesday to see a new cardiologist and get an EKG before I see him. Hope he has made some contact with the pulm doctor so they can put 2 and 2 together and come up with something that can be treated......

Keep searching and keep bugging your doctors until you feel better.......I want to feel better for the rest of the summer so I'm not going to stop searching for the Right answer.......
Good Luck with that and having all those boys at your house !!!! LOL

They are quite specific on diagnosing Fybromyalgia and know a lot more about it as a specific chronic condition these days, but sadly there still isn't a lot they can do about it so running around to the doctors can be more irritating than anything else. Neurologists and rheumatologists are the specialists that handle it generally. They have come a long way in understanding but not to far in treating. All their meds have too many side effects for me to want to try them.

I am quite healthy and in shape, but for the pain :(

LM so do they know what causes it yet? I agree, I never stayed on any of the meds they'd prescribe because of the dang side effects. They would make you so tired and one of the symptoms of fibromyalgia is fatigue to begin with. There are good days and bad days. Tend to overdo things on the good days then suffer with more bad days !!

They have theories and publish new papers and studies, but they still don't have it pinned down really. It's good they take it seriously and study it so much now, but nothing is pinned down. When you were diagnosed it wasn't even recognized. They just called it the "I don't want to work disease." Some people still think its BS so it isn't like you want to tell people why you feel so horrible sometimes.
