Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good early evening! I am bushed....what an odd day it was--the weather was sun, rain, sun, undecided, rain, sprinkles, rainbow, sun pouring rain....it was like Mother Nature just couldnt decide to flood my basement and yard worse or dry everything out.
Why don't we figure out a time to get together and you could visit me and my horses. I haven't ridden at all this year yet. My older gelding is pretty safe and very fun to ride! The younger ones need some tuning up after long breaks. I have been traveling for 7 years hard and they just haven't gotten the riding they need. They are very respectful and sweet though.
How far away are you Lisa? That sounds like a really good time! Do you trailer? What kind of places do you have to ride near you? I am thinking what kind of "trouble" I can get into after I no longer have kids to watch!

Too hot for spot ? Wow, $9.99..... someone is making a lot of money on this one !!! Now why didn't I think of this?
Yeah...dont we always think this when someone is marketing "our" ideas? I have thought that many a time myself!
Honestly, when it comes to name calling/stereotypes based on assumptions or generalizations, I do not participate or pay attention to the details of what is being said by the individuals that are doing it. My general philosophy is to get to know individuals and decide whether I like that person. If I don't like that person, I do not hold it against anyone else with similar hair, skin color, religion, political view, geographical location, etc.
That is a great attitude to have for sure! WHen DH and I traveled to Italy in '90 we commented several times about our traveling companions, "yes, that is where the phrase 'ugly American' comes from!" You would not believe the gall of some folks!
Quote: Vicki--sounds like you have one spoiled girl there! If she was your grandchild you probably would hate her! LOL!

DH must be going through some kind of hormonal thing...OMG he was crazy cleaning to day...well, cleaning how he does it anyhow...which means that I have to go through everything next week and find out where he put it! I saw a great big bag of shoes in the trash that the kids were supposed to go through..also there is a TON of stuff put into the attic AGAIN that does not belong there! Like laundry that needs to be washed, clothes that have been given to dd, garbage...you can imagine I am sure!

Well, I think I am going to make myself some taco chip salad for dinner....sounds good to me!
Later! TerriOnotlookingforwardtonextweek

Evening everyone..cold wet day today. Dug some ditches to get run off. If it does not rain tomorrow I might get some gardening done. My garden is not under water today thank goodness. Skeeders are thick tonight. I brought one of the chicks in tonight. It does not eat. I am pretty sure there must be something wrong with it. I tried to get it to at least drink and it is not interested. If I do not see progress tomorrow I will have to cull a dang Orpington chick. My first Orp cull. ugh.

Anyone want Muscovys? I am going to sell them all. 29 birds including all breeding stock. Joe will not eat them so I am not going to keep them.

, we had the rain, then no rain, sprinkles, down pour and finely sun and dry.

got a bunch of stuff done today, DH had to go and remove flooring that got wet during the rain this week at a unit so it can dry out and be replaced.

Cleaned out the turkey pen

and the rabbits this morning so they are all good for at least a week!

DH was able to get a wiring diagram for the skid steer, the place we get parts from was nice enough to fax a copy to us. Got it fixed and running and put in our new driveway culvert this afternoon- the old one came out in 4 pieces and was in bad shape.

Went over by our friend who also has chickens and picked up a broody Langshan (sp) from her to use for trying to hatch out some pea eggs. Have the hen set up in our house garage away from all our other birds and in a dog crate. Gave her 1 egg shortly after getting home and with in minutes she was sitting on the eggs. If she sits through tomorrow, we will take the 3 in the incubator that are due in 14-15 days and see if they will hatch. Of course if she breaks brood, we'll return her and try 1 of the other 10 she has

Of course we had to look at her baby runner ducks and geese- they are very cute, the older goose was being a very good big brother to the others. She mentioned that she was going to place an ad to sell them. We resisted and left all of them there!

Having BLT's with salad for supper and then have to go finish chores.

Have a good one!

Was sitting here and heard some chirping and knew thea chicks in brooder in other room couldn't of gotten out. Day 19 and 4 in homemade incubator and 2 in Brinsea are trying to get out. Im going to have to read up on the correct terms of hatching. Im so darn excited, I don't know how you guys handle all this suspense.

Are you trying to tell me that my new Langshan girls will be broody all the time?
Oh well...at least I wont have to wash incubators! LOL!

Just finished dinner...HM chips with avocado, pulled pork, pepperoni, salsa(2 kinds), Sour cream, olives and cheese! YUM!

I might have to have popcorn too! Nighties--gotta head out and lock up. DD is staying where she is house sitting for the night.

I didn't figure on sleeping tonight.. So far I have one black chick with white spots. Looks to have good legs and has a big set of lungs. Had to finish my other brooder in record time as I thought I had until Monday to complete and was going to do tomorrow. Big surprise for me. My other one is just a plastic tote from Walmart I cut top out and zip tied wire. This new one is wood and has 1x8 side walls and used 3 metal poles to attach heat light too think this will work pretty good. I did a trade with my husbands uncle for an old metal brooder top but it needs the burlap replaced. Maybe get that done for the next hatch.
