Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

My experience, all with broilers, is that spraying lab accelerates microbial action / breaking down waste = reduced odor.

Last batch was processed when both our businesses got busy ( rain delayed ).

I literally opened the coop door for the 1st time on Saturday ( over a month later ).

No smell.....period.

I do pressure wash and clean EVERYTHING in coop prior to next batch.

Dry times with meaties having coop & run nice to use...wet periods like this spring & doing only dry feed......wow... is all I can say.

Wow, hot and sticky enough yet? All you lucky ducks blessed with air conditioning, I envy you. Who would have ever thought we would ever need it up here! Maybe there is something to this global warming thing after all. Hopefully it will stick around this winter.

Checked on my maintenance crew ( aka the chooks ) and they did a great job on weeding the toms. Crockpot had eaten so many grasshoppers her crop was tilting her forward! :gig

My husband decided to have his friend from Colorado spend the night tonight so that they can go fishing in the morning. He failed to mention that the guy was bringing his bird dog. It terrorized my chickens and ducks for about 20 minutes, catching 2 of them. One is in pretty rough shape. It was chaos. I finally got him a leash and he put her on it. But he knows I have birds free ranging. Lets use a little common sense. Then he took her swimming and I told him the horses were down by the river and he better keep her away from them because the gelding will kick her or bite if she gets near his face. He sure kept her under control then. My throat hurts from screaming. Because once my dog saw her catching birds he wanted to do it too. And he does not have the "soft mouth" that she does.

Hi all---I am tired of sitting in my recliner...went out a few times today to feed, do weeding, take down laundry etc...I have no idea why I decided to weed. I started in the sweet potatoes and just did the whole 10x20 bed! I guess the weeds just wanted to get pulled. It didnt even seem that hot. Well, I came in here and I almost collapsed! I think I have had 5 quart jars of water today!

Kids just came in...their v-ball game was cancelled because of rain...sure wish it would rain here...I will have to run the hose on the garden again I guess. It doesnt look like it is coming this way at all.

Well, guess I will go lock up...all this inactivity makes me tired!

Holy moly it is sticky out there! Happy to be home on days like this, unfortunately I have to go to work on Wed in this nasty heat and humididty so I will be getting as much swimming time in before that!

Been doing my biking in the AM, avg about 6 miles on my mountain bike. I have a new bike coming tomorrow that is a hybrid road bike, so that should really help! Nice LIGHT bike with big skinny tires.

Taffy seems to be improving, she has one wing that she still holds funny but I have not discovered anything broken. She feels pretty skinny too but it is summer and she has been laying..... her leg is doing better too. We have been giving her a few swimming exercise sessions in an old washtub a few times a day. She can get the weight off the foot and do some dabbling in the water, a win-win.

CS, if you are chosen to be on the jury, just a little tip. When they bring out the evidence, write down the evidence # along with what the evidence is. During deliberation if you ask for evidence, you must be able to provide the # of the piece you are asking for or you will not get it. There is a guy at work who happened to be a member of the jury for this case: http://www.wrn.com/2012/12/guilty-verdict-in-fond-du-lac-murder/
It has been very interesting to hear how a trial is conducted, and to learn the things nobody ever talks about or what you are not told. Anyway, just an FYI.

Pretty boring here, just trying to keep cool.
