Busy day here. Spent all day painting the trim, windows, and closet in the room that my dad will get. Finally finished it about an hour ago.
The winds knocked down alot of branches and a few fell over the driveway. DH is on his way to Tennessee, so I dragged them to the property line.
The boys (DH, my brother and dad) will arrive tomorrow evening and we will be unloading on Sunday.

My tomatillos and tomatoes have gone through a sudden growth spurt and some of the branches have broken because they got too heavy with fruit. I tied up what I could, but the tomatillos are SOL for the moment because I ran out of stakes.

Chickens were a bit more quiet today. There protest must be winding down.

Hi all! People watching "Avengers"--way too loud!

Terri all my eggs are marked and will band legs as they hatch like last hatch so I know who's who. Very glad I did with first hatch as they were all black and now that their getting good feathers I wouldn't be able to tell them apart of I hadn't other than the 2 wyondottes and one Cochin bantam.

Good for you! I made an elaborate coding system for the chicks that cuties hatched for me...I NEVER can keep them straight if I dont ID them in some way. My memory is just not that good--I always THINK I will remember...right Jim?

My tomatoes have gone absolutely crazy too! I hardly have a walkway in between any more. I am not seeing too many actual fruits on them though, except for one plant that is loaded! The Hubbard squash (from Brent) must have grown 5' in the last day...not really sure where I will train it to go.

Heading out...gotta get to bed cause I need to get up early for chores and pull out with the horse and trailer for a ride tomorrow! I am really looking forward to it...been a while!

What do you do when you get an unexpected job offer in the field you went to school for? I would make 3-4 times what I'm making now per year. But I'd have to work more hours per week and couldn't just take a day off whenever I feel like, couldn't leave early, come late, leave to drop my kids off when needed . . . Its a real job, with real responsibility. Scary Not sure I can handle that kind of commitment.

That is a really hard decision. Money is not every thing. If you have a job you love and it meets your needs, no money can replace that.

My baby looks very similar to this. So darling! I just took the 2 lav chicks out to slip under a momma. I tried Miss Momma first, but she got all cranky and took to pecking at me, at the flashlight, and the babies. So I said "no more babies for you!" I hope Sugar can handle 5 chicks for her first brood, cause I popped them under her and she didn't make one peep about it. She's been such a good girl lately, she lets me pet her while she sits on eggs WITH new babies under or around her. Don't know if that means she won't be aggressive enough to defend the babies against the other birds or not...? Only time will tell, but I don't want anymore dead chicks! Getting tired here. I had planned on going to bed early since tomorrow is work night. But I wanted the birds good and asleep before I snuck chicks out. Now I'm thirsty and trying to finish a huge glass of water, which will mean a middle of the night wake up call. Jeez, what am I 80?!
