Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Kendra,

I was actually shocked at the screaming last night. I went running out to the coop to find out what the heck was going on. They are really loud. Even when I hold them, they talk. They are really loud. It will not be a problem replacing them for something quieter..wow .all my birds together are quieter....lol

I was told my roo was a rock its more like he's a ham, I have 1 Plymouth hen, silver lace wy. and a easteregger she lays blueish eggs but tell you the truth sometimes they confuse me one gets off and there will be a brown and a blue one , so I know that laying in the same place.

Judge...I am moving in. My garden is getting over run with weeds again. Ugh. Wish I had a tractor or something big in the print to till it up and keep own some weeds. Beautiful bounty.

Rberry...did I know you were hr? Still hr at uw?
Well I start the new job next thursdaymso we took a mini vacation to,Dubuque to the Mississippi River museum and aquarium that happens to be next door
to,a small waterpark. Perfect time! Cheap and fun.mi would recommend for under kids under 10 ( only has one room and three slides and mini lazy river)
Nice to be home. Chickens did fine for two nights and neighbors took some of the eggs like I asked so that is good.

Hubby has two more days of vacation so we are going to have some local fun for our mini vacation week before I am working etc. kids school pictures and registration is next week too. Geesh always busy! Love chickie picks too. Be back later

Wow I agree with you on Judge's garden, great harvest. I don't know that we ever discussed work - I'm now in IT with the same department at the UW. Great weather to finish out your vacation - enjoy!! We may need to see if we can do our area meet and greet this fall. Summer has just gotten away from me and now you will be starting your new job.

Great July Day To Everyone..... nice pics, thanks for taking the time to share them.

Nothing but great advice from CC....the medicated chick starter should be fed to all
chicks...regardless of whether they were bator or broody mom born..it's their needed feed for the protection that so many chicks don't receive, and the problems arise (don't believe that the medicated feed isn't necessary)..did you ever here this before? If they say it wrong enough, long enough, folks believe it's right?

No reason whatso ever, not to feed the medicated starter....have you seen the sad results without? I could go on about the cures...but I won't. Please feed the medicated starter for chicks, in the beginning.

Fishing has been good, kinda funny when a river rat friend says ....I wouldn't go cause of all the set lines......then I know the bite and catch is good..LOL! Let's go catch some good ones...

I'll be back later but my daughter found these and I can't remember what they are... anyone know?

BTW... My daughter says they don't seem to have that "dot" on the bottom of the berry like most round berries do.

Tanks!

Hi there! CInd--I would have said that they were currants...except that the leaves dont look at all like the leaves on Judge's plant...so I guess dont take my word for it! LOL---give a taste--see if they taste OK...post in the morning...or not! (sorry that was probably not so neighborly...

) I dont know Frenchie--my smileys seen to be fine...speaking of!
Can you all believe it? Jim CAN use them!
Hello! I am new to the 'Cheesehead' group and wanted to drop in.

We just re-started our flock with some Ameraucanas , after our amazing 5 Buff Orps were picked off by something.

. So sad, they were the best chickens!
We got 8 Ameraucanas from a breeder, come to just find out that 7 of them are roosters, and half of the buff are Easter Eggers. Does anyone want roosters?
We just picked up some silver hens last night and they are SO loud! I hope they settle in soon because we keep running out to the coop thinking they must be killing each other only to find them sitting around Bawking their little heads off.

Loving to read over all the posts... Glad I saw someone referenced the WWII airplanes at the airport this week because 2 just flew over our house and scared my 11 year old. He thought we were under attack.

FUnny story...and welcome to our little group!
the wood burner?

I see it is a vermont castings product. They are notoriously high priced. this one I found has a fan motor, so even more $ at least 600

that's why I posted it here. free is better if you're a mooch like me.

JJ
WHen I looked it had been taken off the list--maybe got too many calls/posts? I had one here that was red...if you all remember I brought it up to the bash 2 years ago to give to Tomski...I wonder how it is working in his garage? Anyone talk to him lately?

Hi All-
welcome to the newbies
sorry about all the losses.
Got a lot done in the garden yesterday, and today I picked the currants. Going to make jam.
I gave the dried up and overripe ones to the chickens. They loved them!
Here are a few pics of the garden. Have a great day all!

WOW-is all I can say! Good job Judge! I hope your jam turns out good. I made currant one year and got a blue ribbon at the state fair! I should call my neighbor and see ir she still has some...that was such a great flavor! Your garden looks like a baseball field to me...anyone else get that impression?

WOW-John Tesch just said that many younger woman dont care to get married cause most of "today's men" would rather drink beer and play video games than support a family. Sheesh....

I was told my roo was a rock its more like he's a ham, I have 1 Plymouth hen, silver lace wy. and a easteregger she lays blueish eggs but tell you the truth sometimes they confuse me one gets off and there will be a brown and a blue one , so I know that laying in the same place.
Oh yes Bobo--we are familiar with that...it is called "the FAVORITE NEST!" I sure wish I knew why it happens....but chickens dont talk...so they cant tell you why they prefer one nest. (commercial)
Yaupon Holly possibly..
Hmmm--have to look that one up Deli--never heard of it!

So yeah, guess I babbled enough hey? I guess I will finish my popcorn and head out to the garden for another session of "chopping." I made my popcorn with too much coconut oil and it is ULTRA delicious! MMMMM!
Later! TerriO

BTW... My daughter says they don't seem to have that "dot" on the bottom of the berry like most round berries do.
(I'll add this to the post)
